Hardtop 1.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,050 miles

My 2019 Mini Cooper 2-Door Hardtop Base only has 27,050 miles on it. Yet, a defective part has caused a 4-day repair and $1400. The repair is done at Mini Dealership on 02/17/2023.

I initiated numerous correspondences with Mini Cooper Customer Relations and Services Representative [800-831-1117] starting on 02/20/2023. They finally informed me their decision on NOT providing any compensation or assistance on 03/13/2023.

The defective part is a PCV Diaphragm, causing the engine light to be on (fuel mix is too rich). The code is P0172 (BMW code: 118002). Since the PCV is fully integrated into the Valve Cover, the whole assembly has to be replaced.

I have not had any PCV valve that fails on me before hitting 100k miles. In addition, PCV valve is a $5 part that can be replaced within 15 minutes for most cars. For Mini Cooper not to do the right thing in compensating a customer on a defective part they have is just unethical.

I strongly discourage others in owning a Mini Cooper based on my disappointing car ownership and customer service interactions experience.
