When I am driving my car smells alot like gas fumes it is overwhelming for my children, I called the dealership because we have inspected the car really well on all fuel lines and found no leaks, the dealer said that my car was not included in the recall, I have seen this happen to many other people on the internet, they talk about the same fumes smell but how the manufacturer will not fix the problem because of the VIN number not matching the one on the recall I think this one should also be on the list, cause now that it is summer it really worries me to have all the fumes in the car in the heat when I am driving, and this is a constant very strong smell, I am afraid the car may blow up or something.this has gone on every day, since I have had this car I got it about a month ago.

There was a strong odor of gas inside the vehicle.

Many vehicles of this same model year were recalled for a gas smell/ fire hazard caused by an improperly installed fuel tank gasket. My car does not have a matching VIN so the dealer says I am not covered. If it were a defective part I could understand them being able to classify my car as having passed. However, since this was a procedure, I do not think that with the # of complaints similar to mine that they have covered all the cars they should have. Is Mitsubishi not notorious for letting the volume of complaints escalate to unreasonable amounts prior to acting??

Consumer smells gas fumes when driving. Also, smells fumes when air conditioner is on. There is a recall, 96V158001, on vehicle's make/model; but this vehicle is not included due to VIN.

While parked or when driving there is a strong fuel smell in vehicle. It stays in vehicle for a while, then it goes away. Contacted dealer, and the dealer was not willing to do anything. Consumer states there is a recall dealing with this problem, however his VIN is not included.
