About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The car has been accumulating fluid on the floor of the driver's side. Usure of where the problem was, we have been absorbing the water and airing out the car. Mold has accumulated as well (black mold) and now I know why I've had repeated respiratory problems, including pneumonia three times over the past 2 years. Rust is also forming due to the constant humidity levels inside the car. The brake pedal seems to be rusting as well as the driver's side chair floor mount. I cannot see what is happening to the electrical wiring, as it is covered by the panels. There have been numerous times that due to the liquid on the floor of the driver's side, my foot has slipped while depressing the brake which has led to potential accidents. As I cannot see the floor itself (due to the carpeting), I don't know if that is rusting out as well. I have not taken it to a dealer yet, since I didn't know what the problem was... I thought that maybe rain was getting into the car somehow. Well, since it hasn't rained in over one week, and the puddle in the car was worse than ever before, I suspected the A/C system. I went online and have found numerous complaints and yet there is no recall" I am appalled that this situation has not been addressed? fungal respiratory infections can lead to death, especially for those who are vulnerable. Slippery brake pedals, rusting floor boards and rusting seat floor anchors, potential for electrical shorts and/or fires are not acceptable. The company has apparently not taken responsibility for these issues. Perhaps it will take a death for a recall" I would like to emphasize that no mechanic was able to definitively tell us where this leak was coming from, nor were we able to tell... until now. It has been two years. This car has no resell value and should not be sold due to the potential for serious harm. This matter is long overdue!

Standing water on driver side floor.HVAC drain plug is clogged and now warning lights for many different items are appearing on dash display and this is caused by water running through. I do not know of many auto makers that put drain plug under dash board. This could very well turn into an electrical and or fire hazard. Contacted dealer and was told this was the first they have heard of this. There are many many many complaints online so they do know about the problem.

Noise of sloshing water in the trunk and water dripping onto the driver's floor; soaking wet carpet. Very bad odor! causing a sick feeling. Rear passenger windows failed; right and left approximately six months apart. The malfunction caused the windows to fall down into the door panel. Roaring noise coming from both front and rear wheels.

It looks like that the Mitsubishi Endeavor has design defects where the A/C water leaks inside the car. I started to notice water under driver and rear seats. I thought that this is due to rain but when I took it for repair the mechanic told me that this is due to the A/C and the water is not draining out instead it is draining inside. I also went to the dealership here in jacksonville, fl and they also told me that this is a know problem and happens with this model. They told me that I have to either replace the compressor for $800 or they can clean and do something that will temporarily fix the problem costing $189. They also told me that there is no recall even though they know that this is a manufacturing defect. There is no guarantee that this problem will not happen even if I replace the compressor. Which is insane!!! searching the internet reviled that a lot of people are having the same issue. So far I drained more than 3 gallons of water from under the driver and rear passenger seats. I cannot use A/C in hot Florida weather. So much water inside the car can also cause short circuit even fire. I believe this is a serious problem which Mitsubishi should recall and fix.

2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor, over the pass year are so the black paint has been fading away and they only paint the spots that has faded (why not repaint the hold thing and same time they agree it is a defect). This next problem is current, 12-1-2008 I can not remove the key from the ignition after I put it in park and just rotate the key to turn off the SUV the rotation stop and I can not remove it or began to force it to home position my key as of today 12-2-2008 is still in the ignition it will just rotate enough to turn the motor off and that is it, will this fall under the current recall of the electrical ignition problem.

The consumer had to take the vehicle into the dealer because none of the windows would roll down, and the doors would not lock or unlock from the driver side remote button. A whining noise was heard in the transmission. Windshield wiper blades would not turn off. Warning light in the dash continues to come on.
