My vehicle has the same problem as 2006-2008 model years of the same car. That is, the heater controller signal to the HVAC system codes as U111, and consequently the A/C will not turn on at all, but indicator light shows it to be on. The compressor is not receiving the signal from the controller. The dealer says this recall (number 10V514000) does not cover 2005 cars.

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was diagnosed that the air conditioning box and tube needed to be cleaned and replaced. The contact was included in NHTSA campaign number: 08V139000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

I was driving along the highway, I smelled what seems to be burning plastic, I saw smoke from under my glove compartment, suddenly my A/C stop working. Upon inspection I notice that the electrical plug to the fan motor looked charred/burnt. I removed it for safety reasons. I read over the internet that is a common problem with these vehicles, the item should be recalled.

I was driving the vehicle home from work when I smelled electrical wire burning through out the car. It was coming from under the glove compartment. I pulled off the road to investigate. The connector to the A/C & heater motor was charred. During internet research I discovered that this is very common occurrence. What people have said on-line was that it was a poor design, thus the connecting pins are too close which causes them to heat up and char the connector. If I would have had a new paper or backpack in that area, it could cause a fire while driving resulting in a fatal accident. I tried reconnecting, that part I used was charred a second time. I believe it should be recalled by the manufacturer.

Air conditioning water drains into the vehicle causing clogging and flooding of the drivers side floor the mileage is only115K. This causes bad odor, growth of microorganisms and could lead to accidents because the floor on the drivers side becomes slippery. Took it to the dealer but they said they have been receiving same complaints. They inspected it for 30 minutes and said looks like the problem has been fixed. Next day after using the air condition for about an hour the floor was flooded again.

While air conditioner is running and vehicle is in motion, blower stops blowing cold air, water drips inside vehicle on passenger side floor gets soaked with water and moldy smell inside vehicle. When making turns, you can hear water sloshing around inside the dashboard, and what sounds like static or sparks behind the dash. Water sometimes run over onto the gas and brake pedals, casing a dangerous situation. Blower motor has since stopped working as a result of water constantly running down on it.
