ok so my galant was owned by my grandfather who has had 3 transmission rebuilds done on this car he gives me the car as a gift and sure as anything the transmission was grinding on the way home the first day so i only drove it when it was neccesary then on january i go to drive the galant to a fire call ( i am a firefighter) and the piece of junk wouldn't go into gear i tried drive first then tried 2nd and low with no results only reverse works and reverse whines and slips the transmission in the car is less than 2 years old the motor runs fantastic but the constant transmission problems are a real pain in the rear end id never buy another mitsubishi as long as i live

Galant ES 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 156,000 miles

Car started slipping going into 2nd gear when accelerating. One day I accelerated to pass traffic and it just gave out. I was hoping to get another 50,000 miles out of it.

Galant

  • 74,000 miles

Overdrive went out, stopped shifting gears, basically died. I found out that these Galants have a real problem with their trannys. I've heard it over and over since I started this mess. Got it fixed, overdrive went out again in 3 months. 2 months later 2nd gear problems. This sucks!!! I won't even be able to sell it for what I still owe on the car.
