problem #1

Oct 202017

Lancer ES 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 43,496 miles

I went 5 times to 3 different Mitsubishi dealers in the area, 5 different mechanics inspected the car and troubleshot the issue. They replaced some parts under Warranty (catalyzer, remove all the heat shields and other parts...) but the annoying noise was always there.

Regardless if the car is cold or heat low or high speed, when accelerating the exhaust system emits a continuous loud noise like if the muffler is pierced or damaged.

The last Mitsu dealer told me that nothing can be done to get rid of the noise except changing the whole exhaust system and this is not covered by 10y/160km mitsu warranty... all at the cost of 1500$.

finally I went to specialized garage, they cut the resonator and replaced by a normal pipe to troubleshoot and the noise disappeared.

I have all bills and photos for reference.
