This Mirage has very little power when it is below freezing. Pick-up from a full stop is really awful. GOING UP A HILL IN COLD WEATHER, EVEN WITH HEATERS OFF, IS A CHORE FOR THIS VEHICLE. IT IS SCARY BECAUSE THE SPEED WILL ONLY GO TO MAYBE 25 AND GOING ANY HIGHER IS DIFFICULT FOR THIS CAR. I TRY HARD TO BE GENTLE WITH THE GAS PEDAL BECAUSE IT'S USELESS PUSHING HARDER. STARTING FROM 1st GEAR TO 2ND TO 3RD WHILE GOING UP IS OK FROM THE START BUT MID HILL POWER IS LOST AND I PUT IT IN 2ND GEAR AND IT IS STRAINING THE ENGINE AND YOU REALLY SLOW DOWN. I AM TERRIFIED I WILL BE RAN INTO FROM BEHIND.
I HAVE DRIVEN STANDARDS AND NEVER HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH POWER. AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP SHOP MECHANIC, WELL, IT IS TO BE EXPECTED, IT IS ONLY A TINY ENGINE. WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IS WHY MITSUBISHI THINKS THIS IS OK. BECAUSE IF I EVER DO GET HIT FROM BEHIND, GOD FORBID, MY CAR WILL BE TOTALED AND NO IT WOULD NOT BE MY FAULT. UNFORTUNATELY I CANNOT AVOID HILLS WHERE I LIVE. OR CANNOT GO FROM A DEAD STOP AT A LIGHT ON A FLAT ROAD TO A NORMAL START SPEED. AND NUMEROUS TIMES BEEN NEARLY REAR ENDED.
Update from Apr 26, 2016: No change since last post, I have not been hit. Extremely close this weekend when a truck trailor was switching lanes into my lane and did not see my car. GAS MILEAGE now has been bad yet i keep up with oil change. Matenance not needed yet due to mileage.heck 9.3 gallon tank only 240 miles at the most barely 27 miles to a gallon. what the heck? even in warm weather and i am a conservative driver. Mitsubishi should buy back this car at cost. Crappy.
