Outlander SE 2.4L 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 27,884 miles

I have owned Toyota, Honda and Nissan cars that I have driven over 100,000 miles with them and I have never had a problem with paint chipping off them. On the other hand, my 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander, with 28,000 miles driven on it, has paint chipping off the hood and tiny rust spots peppered all over the hood. It appears that the paint job on these cars are not up to par with their competitors. I took it to the local dealer and was told that this would not be covered under warranty. So, I bought touch up paint online and did the repairs myself.

I definitely would never buy another Mitsubishi again.

This vehicle's paint started chipping almost immediately. It's so bad, it looks like it has chicken pox. Mitsubishi Canada says they won't fix it unless I can "put my baby finger through the metal". Good grief. The dealership gives the run around. Seems this is a common issue. Can't even buy touch up paint as it's now water based. Who wants a $37,000 chicken poxed vehicle that's going to rust out before the warranty is up??

Outlander GT 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

I have a 2015 Outlander GT purchased brand new. After a few thousand miles, I started observing dings, paint ripples and paint chips. The metal used on the vehicle is extremely thin and the paint is cheap. This is too bad because I like the vehicle and it's been very reliable. The SAWC system works great as well. Unfortunately, if they continue to use this flimsy metal and cheap paint I will go back to the Korean brands (with the exception of a few). The metal is strong and the paint is fantastic on the Hyundais and Kias. I wrote Mitsubishi so I will post an update when I hear back from them.

Update from Jul 31, 2018: A little late but here is the update. I went all the way up to the regional manager for Mitsubishi in the Tampa Bay Area and not only did he tell me it was my fault, he said I’m not painting your car. The dealer found fault with the paint and body this jerk had the audacity to tell me it’s my fault. I’ve had many vehicles and None have ever had such shotty paint and flimsy body work. For this reason alone, I will

Never purchase another mitsubishi. Going back to Kia/Hyundai.

Mitsubishi claims that this is road damage. The paint is chipping in perfect circles on the hood, the driver's door and the passenger door. They claim the damage is from rocks, but there is no damage to the front bumper, or the mirrors. Every person I've spoken to at Mitsubishi says they are sorry, nothing they can do. Worst experience ever, my 2008 Mazda has paint the looks better at 120,000 miles.
