About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The vehicle won't start. Battery keeps draining, I have to charge the battery with a charger each time. I believe there is a defect in the electrical that continuously is drying the battery. Had it checked a year ago where I purchased the car and they told me I could opt to have them install in a trickle charger to resolve the issue, of course at my expense. The vehicle has less than 8,000 miles presently. When purchased new it had 300 miles. No longer under warranty, if the battery continues to drain I feel it has an electrical defect not just a battery issue. This has happened twice in the last week or two.

My interior lights do not work properly. Initially when I noticed the problem, one side was working and the other one was not. Now, none of the lights works. Additionally, my headlights are not working properly either.

Airbag system service required light comes on and off constantly while driving on any type of road and while parked. Mitsubishi dealership states that the passenger seat got wet and the light will go off when the seat dries. The seat has never been wet and the passenger floor is not wet either. Dealer refuses to fix the issue.

Every two or 3 weeks I have to jump the truck to get it started even put a new battery in it....I have brought it to the mechanic and brought it to the Mitsubishi car dealer to diagnose the problem and couldnt find any..it gets very annoying to see if the truck is going to start or I could be stranded somewhere..I bought the truck in July and it has installed a new battery and the dealer cannot diagnose the problem.....the truck has only 37,000 miles

Vehicle first presented with the check engine soon light illuminating. This happened simultaneously with the engine losing speed. The car decreased by ten mph while I was driving on a major highway. With the foot pushing down on the gas pedal no acceleration was about to occur for several seconds. The vehicle then returned control back to me and I was able to regain highway speeds. I have taken to the local Mitsubishi dealer beginning as far back as Sept of 2018 this car five times fully under warranty. Five times they returned the car assuring me the problem was resolved. I have recall sr-17-005 of certain Outlanders and lancers that I located online. Under the NHTSA website my VIN is not under recall, however the relay is what they told me was wrong and repaired. The experiences and description of symptoms match recall accordingly. The check engine light illuminated again yesterday 04/22/19 and I will again be returning to the dealership. Now though I have lost my confidence in their ability to rectify the problem.
