We were driving on the freeway in Idaho when the glass from our sunroof exploded out of the car. Mitsubishi claims it is not a safety problem or a manufacturer’s defect even though they had the same problem in previous Outlanders in 2007-2010. They said our car is out of warranty so we need to pay for it to be fixed. How is this in any way not a safety issue or a manufacturer’s defect?

I guess Mitsubishi thinks it is normal for sunroofs to just fly off your car. Why are they so fixated on my car being out of warranty? Because they don’t want to issue another recall and have to spend lots of money fixing this problem? If someone gets hurt or killed because of this defect it will cost them a lot more than a recall would.
