problem #2

Dec 122023

Outlander

  • CVT transmission
  • 43,000 miles

The touch-screen stopped working. Also self-clicks randomly (automatically changes radio stations etc.). Extremely annoying. It is an escalating problem for this model, so search on the internet and you will find thousands of users reporting the same issue.

Temporary fix is to plug in a USB computer mouse. A pointer will show up that supersedes the touch-screen.

Touch screen started to act up sometimes (self clicking on radio stations), got worse with time and now does not work at all! Major known issue, thousands of views on Youtube. Mitsubishi is at the time of this writing staying quite. Dealership is neglecting calls.

Temporary fix is to plug in a computer mouse to the USB port. A pointer will show up that you can click around with. Permanent fix is to either replace the head unit, or the touch screen panel (spare parts are showing up on Ebay and Amazon since the issue is so widespread, but it is quite a difficult technical surgery required).
