This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Mitsubishi dealer.
Purchased 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander in 2/2016. New. Paid cash. We were out looking at a home, got back into the SUV & nothing. The dashboard had large red letters stating "ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED". Also an image of a SUV & an X over it in red. Service engine light was also on. Car would not turn on, doors would not lock. And the smell of plastic burning. Tow truck driver tried to jump it. Nothing. He stated he had several Outlanders he towed for various reasons. The SUV had an appointment three days later to fix recalls.
I asked Mitsubishi of Lancaster for a loaner. I was told that they had to find out what the problem was & then ask Corporate. In the same conversation Bev (Service Dept.) stated that Corporate took all of their loaners off of them. So which is it? Owner of dealership told me if something ever happened to vehicle, I would get a loner. Of course, I bitched about the deception.
Bev (Service Dept.) called yesterday to say vehicle was finished. I asked what the problem was & she said they checked all electrical parts & found nothing. So they reset the "HISTORY CODE". And it works fine. I only purchased the SUV in February. This is scary. We have had two recalls & other problems on it. We are picking up the vehicle today. My husband is very leering of me driving this SUV. Because they haven't found what is wrong with it. So before we take the SUV he's going to ask for a guarantee that this will not happen again. Of which I know they can't/won't do. Promises are made to sell a car, but they never follow through. I know we are going to have words with this dealership. I have already contacted the Attorney General's office as to what to do. He gave me some suggestions.

Bought car in Sept 2015, transmission died a few months later. Complete replacement of transmission. On May 25th, 2017 drove my car 62 miles, stopped for lunch, when I started car again, would not start completely, would not shut off. Dashboard says "electrical system service required" with red X over vehicle. Towed to dealer. Car was dead because it wouldn't shut off. Called this morning and was told there is nothing wrong with my car and it's working fine.
