Got truck May 2007 from a Toyota dealer with 15K miles after driving it for a day with no problems. After papers were signed, I started the engine and the check engine light was on. The Toyota dealership told me to take it to a Mitsubishi dealership since it was still under warranty. The engine ran fine. The following day the check engine light was no longer on. The Mitsubishi dealership said it may have been caused by the gas cap being loosened by the Toyota dealership when they filled the gas tank at the time of purchase. Shortly afterward, the check engine light came on while driving 35-40 mph and immediately ran with a rough idle and bucked when accelerating. The following morning with light still on, but no rough idle or bucking, Mitsubishi dealership tests determined it was the #2 spark plug, which they corrected. Several days later it happened again. The following day the check engine light was no longer on & engine ran fine. This happened 3 or 4 times a year through 2009. I noticed that if the cruise control was on when the check engine light came on, the cruise control light would turn off and no longer function. After turning the engine off and restarting it, it no longer had rough idle or bucked on acceleration; however, the check engine light remained on and the cruise control light would still not come on or function until a day of two later when the check engine light was no longer on. A couple of months ago, 2 to 5 minutes after starting engine in am & while driving approx. 35-40 mph, engine killed & check engine light appeared. Engine restarted with rough idle, bucking with acceleration & the cruise control would not function. Two weeks ago, while signaling a left turn, the dash blinking lights began blinking on the right & the check engine light appeared, engine killed, etc. Just happened again. Getting dangerous... help!

I had just purchased this vehicle cash on Friday, July 7, 2006. It had 27 miles when purchased. On Friday, July 14, 2006, I was driving on a 2 lane road on military base in san antonio when the vehicle shut off as I was making a right turn. The vehicle would not start. Everything else worked in the vehicle except start. I am currently stationed at the above post for 3 months while in training and purchased this vehicle at a local car dealer. Tried calling the sales consultant who sold us the vehicle at her cell, which she gave my wife where I purchased the vehicle, no reply, called the dealership, they gave me their customer service which gave me the wrong number to call. They gave me a sex call number. I called the dealership again and their receptionist gave me a phone number which turned out to be a security system. After all this, I decided to go back to the dealer, and told them they had sold me a lemon...yes, I was very upset, I had just purchased a new vehicle and all of a sudden it was not working. I told one of the gentlemen at the dealer and he basically stated they could not do anything until Monday because the general manager was not there. How fortunate, but they were quick to make the sale and take my certified check. I mentioned to the gentlemen that the vehicle was on government property and could not be left on post without no registration or tags. He stated he would get someone to remove the vehiche and never did. I had to take the initiative and call the tow company to take the vehicle back to the dealership. I wasted half the day dealing with this issue which could have been corrected if the dealership would have been willing to work with me. I feel they made the sell, received their money and washed their hands of us. On top of this all, it has placed me in a difficult situation in my military training. They will have to deal with my wife because I will be away in training until July 21st.
