Here's my story!! I bought a 2004 Nissan 350Z convertible last summer. My car only had approximately 54,000 miles at the time. It now has approximately 78,000 miles.
My car ran hot and I found out my right radiator was not working. Read on the forum that Nissan had a recall on the radiator fans. See the information below. Well called Nissan last year and the representative told me there was no recall on the Radiator Fan Motor.
Took the car into the shop and not only is my right fan not working, but my left working fan is working improperly also. I called back to consumer affairs to recheck on the information I received from this forum and the representative told me that there was a recall but I was passed the date.
I was transferred over to consumer affairs and was entered as a Good Will customer. The consumer affairs regional representative called me on a Friday left a voicemail that she will be out of the office the rest of the day and Monday. Call back on Tuesday. The dealership was waiting on an answer as well.
I called back on Monday and another rep found the rep that called me. She came on the phone and said Nissan will not help you with the cost. Thank you and have a nice day!!
I am furious!!!! I filed a complaint with the BBB. Beware of Nissan consumer affairs, they are not willing to help with any cost.
Just like most post in this forum that I have read, Nissan Consumer Affairs is a joke. The dealerships treat you nice, but I believe this is role that everyone plays at Nissan.
All 2004-2007 Nissan 350z Owners,
Nissan is recalling/extending the warranty on the Radiator Fan Motor.
It just so happens that my Radiator Fan Motor failed three weeks ago. I ended up spending 900$ to have it replaced (parts and labor). Needless to say, I wasn't happy. However, in a rare stroke of good fortune, Nissan is acknowledging that this is a common issue, and will take of the issue for you.
Just so you know some of the signs and symptoms, I experienced intermittent periods where my air condition would blow hot. I also experienced abnormally high engine temps in stop and go traffic. The final stroke was when I was driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic when I just happened to glance down to see that my temp gauge needle was roughly a 1/4 above the H. Thankfully, the computer in the 350z was smart enough to put the car into limp mode, and I experienced no long term damage to my engine.
Anyways, enough with my diatribe, here's a copy of the letter I received from Nissan, including the contact information.
Dear Nissan Owner:
Nissan is committed to providing the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. We believe that our current and future success depends on your continued satisfaction with Nissan. With that in mind, we want to bring to your attention important information regarding your Nissan.
On some 2004-2007 350Z's, the radiator fan motor may become in-operable, which may cause engine coolant temperature to rise. In this case the engine protection logic will limit the vehicle speed to prevent any damage to the engine. Because this issue only affects a limited number of vehicles, the vast majority of owners should never experience this issue.
However, to assure your continued satisfaction with your vehicle, Nissan has decided to extend its New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage of your vehicle's Radiator Fan Motor from its original duration of 36 months/36,000 miles to 84 months/80,000 miles (whichever comes first). This warranty extension applies only to the Radiator Fan Motor. Coverage of other vehicle components will remain unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissan's New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. Please consult your warranty information booklet for details.
If you have previous paid to have your Radiator Fan Motor replaced due to a failure, you may be eligible for reimbursement of the expense for parts and labor that you incurred. If you have any additional questions, please contact the National Consumer Affairs Department, Nissan North America, Inc., P.O. Box 685003, Franklin, TN 37068-5003. The toll free number is 1-800-NISSAN1 (1-800-647-7261)Thank you for the purchase or lease of a Nissan vehicle. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
