About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
On two occasions my 2005 Nissan 350Z car doors were opened by clockwise rotation brushes in a car wash. The first occasion the brushes grabbed the passengers door handle and the door flew open, hitting the car wash machine, doing $800. Damage to the vehicle. Also, spraying the interior of the vehicle with soapy water. The second the brushes grabbed the driver's door and it opened. I was able to catch the door before damage occurred. I contacted Nissan of North America and they basically said it was not their problem. I feel that this is a safety issue. Had there been a small child in the vehicle at the time they could have been injured or fallen out of the vehicle. The handles are a poor design.
