My car was refusing to start. Computer reader indicated PO 335 Crankshaft Positioning Sensor. I replaced it at a cost of $ 59.00 Canadian. Service Engine indicator went off but came back on, then latter for no reason it went off again and then wouldn't you know it came back on.

Vehicle starts better but it has stalled 3 times at traffic lights and once while driving at 90 Kilometers per hr it quit and restarted immediately.

I would really appreciate some help with this, My manual (Haynes repair manual is not very clear as to its location) I think I am changing the correct one it certainly is having an effect on the problem.

I have a 2005 Nissan altima. Back in December my car was hesitant to start and the the check engine light came on. I had the codes ran and it said camshaft & crankshaft sensors so I had them replaced. The car was fine for 2 days!! I went to start it and it shut off on me and the check engine light came back on. Everytime i start it its hesitant. The codes still read the same thing but i know its not that i already reaplced it twice theres no way both sensors both times were faulty. I've just been driving the car with the check engine light on because my mechanic says he doesnt know what it could be he checked my ECM and the wiring to it and said that was all fine. Yesterday i went to start the car and it shut off immediately and wouldnt turn back on. I had to let it sit for a while and it eventually turned on but then shut off again. I'm afraid of getting stuck somewhere now. If anyone has had this problem or knows what i can do PLEASE HELP!!!!

The same Nissan complaint has now moved from my Xterra lemon to my Altima lemon. After sitting for 2 days Nissan Altima's REFUSE to start or start like a diesel with water in the fuel. Now the problem is getting worse, now IF you are lucky enough to get your Altima cranked, a gaggle of lights come on in the dashboard which make no mechanical sense. The Check Engine, Battery and Brake lights all come on. The engine runs rough and after 5-10 minutes settles down, the lights go off and all seems fine and normal until you turn the engine off again. I have already replaced the battery, recall's have been performed and I will never purchase another Nissan product which is evident by my current H3, but I am stuck how to proceed with fixing this Nissan clunker.

In 2007 my Altima would not want to start, it had a hesistant to it, so I had my battery check and that was fine...I continued to drive it and everytime I would have to start it from it sitting along period of time it would not start, oneday it left me stranded at the gas station and I had to jump start it to take it to Auto Zone to purchase a new battery, then my Alternator went out in 2009, after that I thought it was all taken care of, then I had to replace another battery in 2009 as well. I was at the gym August 2010 my car did not want to start again, took it to Auto Zone battery was dead replaced another battery. I see here there is a major problem with the battery dying out and the car not wanting to start.

I am so fustrated with this car and the only reason I don't get rid of it is because its paid off and I don't want another car payment. Well thats not all Sept 2010 my Service Engine Soon light is now on...what is freakin next!!! I owned a Honda Accord in 97 and never experienced so many car problems that this Altima has had.

Woke up Monday morning to go to work and take the kids to school and the car didn't start. Thought it was the battery since nothing was on no lights, radio nothing. Tried to jump it and nothing. Got a ride my husband took the battery to Auto Zone and the battery was good to go mind you I just bought the battery about a month and a half ago. He put the battery back in and still nothing. It has to be electrical but all the fuses are looking good.

So basically I have a 3,000lb paper weight sitting in my driveway. I called Nissan and they told me it's electrical Duh I already said that then they said well have it towed here and it will be 100.00 just to diagnosis it.

i have had numerous problems with my Altima starting, and all the lights and radio came on perfectly. for some reason that battery keeps boiling over and corroding over. i know it is not the battery because i have had it checked and it is fine, but for some reason it is getting too much juice yet the car wont start, and my the way this is the third batter i have had in the past 2 years. its getting rediculous! last night me and my 3 yr old daughter were stranded at a store at 10:30 pm in the freezing rain and the temperature at 25 degrees f.

that was the last straw, i have had so many problems with this car from not starting, brakes, tie rods, ball joints, motor, transmission, exhaust, manifold, and so on that i will never buy a nissan altima again, i have replaced almost everything on this car and it is still a pile of junk, it had 40000 mile on it when i got it and still was a pile of junk, its definatly not worth the money that was give for it.

i got my altima on october of 08 with 30000 miles on it i drove it all over the US putting another 40000 miles on it, recently i left it alone for two weeks (longest since buying car) upoun returning to my car i found it would not start. I have never had a problem with my baby before in fact this is the second 05 altima i have owned (totlaed the first in the rockies) i loved the car so much i got another one. the radio comes on the lights work the engine attempts to start over but does nothing but shake i have yet to get it fixed will do tomorrow. wondering if anyone knows whats wrong?

I went to get gas and my car would not start. Called my extended warranty company and they called a tow truck. And hour later the tow truck shows up and the car started up. He then followed me to the dealership which the service department was already closed. On Monday morning they called and said my cam sensor, motor mount, battery, and rear brakes needed to be replaced. And also I needed to have a upper induction service done. My check engine light was on at the time. They replaced the cam sensor, and the motor mount which were covered under my extended warranty. I had to pay $222.12 to have the battery replaced and for labor. My horn worked and my lights were working so I really don't think I needed another battery. They want $225 to replace my rear brakes but I am going somewhere else where they only charge $89. This morning when I got ready to go to work the check engine is on again. This is really becoming a inconvenience.

A year ago, my car wouldn't start and I figured it was probably time for a new battery since I had bought it used and it was three years old. Six months later, my car wouldn't start even though ALL of the accessories (lights, radio) would come on. Roadside assistance jumped the battery and I drove it to Nissan dealership to get it checked out. They charged me $50 and said the battery was dead. I then took the car to Autozone to get the battery replaced under warranty. Autozone said the battery was fine even though there seemed to be a slight drain on it and they refused to replace it. So I went to a different Autozone and when they tested it, they found no drain and again refused to replace it.

This is now the THIRD and FOURTH time my car wouldn't start.

Yesterday my car wouldn't start, not even turn over, and again all the lights and radio would still come on. I jumped the battery and drove it around for a good while to make sure it was okay. TODAY the car wouldn't start, AGAIN, even though it did turn over a few times.

I did a Google search and found that lots of other people have similar complaints with the Altima just not starting, even when batteries and alternators are known to be good. Nobody seems to know how to fix this issue. I don't know where to go from here. I can't keep jump starting my car or replacing the battery every six months.
