The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle stalled without warning, but was able to be restarted. The dealer stated that the cam and crankshaft needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

There is an open recall on this vehicle, and, although the contact's vehicle was experiencing identical failures as listed in the recall, the VIN was not included. When she attempted to start the vehicle, the engine would not turn over. The check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and the mechanic stated that the camshaft sensor needed to be replaced. In July of 2008, the crankshaft sensor was replaced at an authorized dealer. The vehicle is in the process of being serviced. The VIN and recall number were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 52,000.
