problem #2

Apr 232011

Altima 2.5S Special Edition

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,605 miles

When I drive, it seems as if I'm braking instead of pressing on the accelerator. It seems that the car is my fuel injectors or pump, is not working properly. Everything runs so sluggish. When I'm on the expressway especially, my car automatically slows down after a certain speed, sometimes as if it's about to cut off. On Saturday after pumping gas, my car wouldn't even crank back up. Please let me know what to do.

problem #1

(reported on)

Altima 3.5 SE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

I have tried filling my gas tank twice since getting the car brand new with 227 miles on it. Each time, at different gas stations, the auto shut-off on the gas nozzle keeps shutting off as if the tank is filled. I've tried putting the nozzle deeper, or pulling it out a bit, or changing the angle, but every 3 seconds, it shuts off. Even when I try to squeeze it manually, it shuts off and kicks back in my hand. This happens when I know the tank is empty, and it's a 20 gallon tank. My first call to Service Dept. was totally unsatisfactory.. says if the check engine light didn't come on, there's nothing wrong. I've read where there can be problems in the fuel vapor line, or carbon cannister, but the Dealer has dismissed that without even checking. Service Mgr. (by telephone) said to keep changing the "angle" of the gas nozzle, even though I told him that didn't work. Then he said.. try other gas stations, maybe the pressure on their pump nozzles is set too high. I will try a couple more fillups at other gas stations, and if this is continuing, I do not expect to live with this problem on a brand new car. Nissan HQ will hear from me. P. S. This is my first Nissan. I've always been a Toyota car owner. Hope I didn't make a mistake in going Nissan this time.
