2009 Nissan Altima loses power after driving 70-80 mph. Speed will then reduce to 55 mph very quickly creating a very dangerous situation for us and other motorists traveling at high speeds on the highway. Car will then not accelerate even if the gas pedal is depressed. Nissan mechanics are not able to duplicate this defect and have not been able to come up with a fix. "Shocking" that the manual suggests under CVT to stop and shut motor off for 15 minutes...REALLY?
Recently,Nissan advised on getting a transmission flush which we did and but still had the same problem. They also advised to get some type of cooling system for the transmission at a cost of $500.00+. Then "if" that didn't work to get a new transmission. Looks like it's time for new car, different make of course. In the meantime, it's a good thing I still have my 2006 Ford Mercury Sable on the side to rely on. It's still runs great at 250,000 miles.

I have been having this problem with car about this pressure problem and almost having an accident. I took the car to Serra Nissan four times but they are refusing to put in another motor while it's still under Warranty. I guess they are going to wait till a car or truck runs over me and my daughter before they do something. Or they are waiting till the warranty is over and make me pay for it. I am a single mom and my only income is disability I can barely afford the car payments so you know I can't afford to pay $5000 for another motor or engine.driveling

When driving at 75 mph or higher over about 20-25 miles the car looses acceleration. When I get off highway and have to stop car is very slow to take off and gain speed. I drive for about 10-15 minutes and I notice improvement until the next time I'm on the highway
