The car was a loaner from a repair shop. I drove about 10 minutes away, turned on the wipers and the activation arm dropped into my hand. I pulled over and checked to see if it had just popped out of its bracket, but the whole arm was busted right off. There is no metal inside the arm - just a cheap plastic centre! Nissan refused to replace the arm under warranty and I had to pay $200 just for the part. I've sent a complaint to Nissan Canada and am awaiting a reply - which might come as a surprise (if it ever comes).
A similar problem happened to me a couple of years ago on a rental Dodge mini-van with a higher mileage and it was replaced under warranty - no problem! Thanks Dodge!
My dad told me 100 years ago never to waste money on a Datsun so I guess their name-change hasn't made any difference. Can you believe they spent so much money restructuring their company without addressing the problems that drove them into the ground in the first place?
