The vehicles low beam lights are dangerously dem and hard to see with them on. They have gotten worse over time and putting in new expensive headlight have not helped. The transmission still sometimes in a higher rmp. I have to tap on the brake to get it unstuck in that RPM.

Altima

  • 90,000 miles
I bought my 2013 Nissan Altima 2.5 brand new in 2012. Over the past 7 years, my low beam headlights have gotten progressively dimmer, to the point that I cannot tell my lights are even on. I can no longer drive my car at night because I cannot see 5 feet in front of the car. If it rains, I am in bad shape because you can't see anything in front of you. When I took my car to the dealership for 90,000 mile service, the service advisor told me that replacing the headlight bulbs will not change or fix the issue. He stated that I needed whole new headlight assemblies, which would cost me approximately $1,000. I have an extended warranty for the car, but feel as this is a wide spread and known issue with the 2013-2015 Altima, that I should not have to pay out of pocket for the repair for my safety and safety of other drivers around me on the road.

Altima

Low beam headlights do not illuminate the road. I cannot see the road while driving in the dark with the low beam head lights on. This has become progressively worse. The dealership says this is a design flaw and the entire headlight unit costs $1400 each plus labor. Or I could buy a new car, they said. I am not aware of this while driving places with lighted streets until driving in unlit areas during the dark times of day. This has be come progressively worse over the years until now, I cannot even see the edges of the road. I would not see something until I would have hit it. This is a safety issue.

The low beam headlights on the 2013 Altima are extremely dim. My car has 95,000 miles. I basically am unable to tell if my lights are on at night and can only see a few feet in front of the vehicle. This appears to be a widespread issue. I have attempted to contact Nissan; however, no response was received. This is extremely dangerous and there will be a serious injury or death due to this issue unless Nissan is forced to correct the problem with a recall. Please help!

I just bought this car 01/03/2020 while night fall came I turned my headlights on I could not tell if they where on it was still dark pulled over and they where on, I had to drive with the high beams on so I could see the road and any pedestrians, there have been several complaints on this, it poses a safety issue for nighttime driving and people have gone off the road, Nissan needs to be held responsible for the way the lighting was made on this vehicle, owners should not be liable for the cost of changing the housing unit on this vehicle, I am extremely scared to drive at night due to not being able to see the road, I don't want to hurt anyone or kill myself by not being able to see

The headlights are getting dimmer over time to the point you are unable to see at night to safely operate the vehicle. The reflective material inside the headlight assembly appears to be deteriorating and replacing the bulb does not help.

This vehicles headlamps are so dim to the point of extreme safety hazard and can cause an accident and injury as a result. This appears to be a known defect and Nissan is not standing behind the safety of their owners. The fix is not a bulb, but replacing both headlamp assemblies at a hefty price tag to the owner

Low-beam headlights have dimmed over time. I purchased car brand new and cannot see without fog lights being on. Replaced bulbs but problem is with the reflective coating inside the headlamp assembly. Many other people having the same problem with their vehicles also.

Altima

Altima's low beam headlights are extremely dim. Same issue as reported on other sites:www.nissanproblems.com/Altima-projector-headlights/ essentially the internal lenz is damage over time and use directing the light towards the ground and not the road. It has been a slow progression and I did not realize the issue until I went to change the lamp bulbs.

The low beams are at the point where it almost looks like they are not on. I have replaced the bulbs, didn't help at all. I adjusted the 2 different adjustment pieces, one is under the hood and the other is behind the inner fender. That didn't correct it.I called Nissan and they are not aware of this issue. I did see on a Nissan form listed as www.nissanproblems.com/Altima-projector-headlights/,that a lot of people are having this issue with what is called the 5th generation Altima. Which is considered a 2013-2015. I believe this issue should be considered a safety hazard. This problem occurs when it is dark out and the headlights are on to see, whether or not your moving or standing still.

Altima

  • 90,000 miles
Well documented issue. "5th generation Altima's low beam headlights are extremely dim" and unsafe for driving at night. Mine have become worse over time to the point where I now feel unsafe driving at night. As others have stated replacing the bulb with a brighter version does not help as the reflective material within the projector deteriorates to the point of making any bulb useless. Thankfully no accidents have occurred yet, but it is very difficult to see obstructions in the road until it is too late and have skimmed or nearly jumped more than a few curbs making right and left turns at night.

Extremely dim low beam headlights. Changing bulbs didn't help. Have to drive with high beams and affect others sometimes. This is always, never changes day to day or under different conditions.

Low beam headlights are very dim. When I first bought the car they were so bright that I was getting brights flashed at me with people thinking I had my high beams on. Now they barley are bright. It is very hard to see at night unless I have my high beams on. I thought it was the head lamp itself but I have replaced them. I have also had to replace my low beams 4 times since I've owned the car for them burning out. Once at the time. After reading so many complaints about it, why isn't Nissan taking care of this issue? I love my car but hate the headlights. This has been an on going issue for the last 3 years.

While driving at night with only the low beams on you can hardly see the road in front of you the lights are to dim.changing the bulbs did not make a difference.this condition has been happening for years.I didn't realize it was happening to so many other people that own this type of car.

I noticed my lights began to dem shortly after my purchase. I have replaced the bulbs and even upgraded the bulb to an led type and issue is still not resolved. It is extremely hard to drive at night or early mornings without using my high beams (which isn't safe for other drivers). I am shocked this issue hasn't been recalled as it is not safe to drive unless it is daylight which isn't an option for me due to my job. I live in stillwater Oklahoma and drive to Oklahoma city to work

In recent weeks the car's headlights have been extremely weak especially when using low beams. In a dark area I can barely see the road even a few feet in front of the car. When I checked the lights, both are working, just not working well enough to function. It's becoming very dangerous to drive at night.

I have sent various emails to Nissan regarding our lights about the unsafe lighting distance they give at night. When driving in fog it is much worse. I have done many changes of bulbs experimenting with different brands and intensities and no change. I have also driven another vehicle and let me wife drive the Altima towards me on a rural road at night and the headlights are very dim to oncoming traffic. This increases the fact and rule of driving which is " your eyes can only see ahead what your lights only cover" it is unsafe to drive slower due to fact of how many drivers drive ridiculously fast and with dim lights makes it even more difficult for them to see you or you to see them. Nissan needs to take action in this matter immediately. We have taken our vehicle to get serviced at our local Nissan dealership and they have many complaints regarding this issue but Nissan corporation needs to step up and make the recall to fix it, not the dealer. This is our 4th Nissan we have owned and I hope it isn't our last.

The head lights on my car when on dim are dangerous. I can't see more than 20-30 feet ahead. I've changed the bulbs with no help or improvement. I've installed new halogen bulbs and contacted the dealership regarding this issue. They tell me my lights are working properly, but they haven't driven M car at night. This seems to be a widespread issue with this model.I can't safely operate my car at night and especially in the rain. I can't see the curb thus I can't see pedestrians until it's almost too late. Nissan needs to fix this problem because it's with every Altima.
