My car is 3 years old with only 66,000 miles on it and the transmission went out. At first it was shuddering at low speeds when taking off from a stop or coming to a stop. Then I couldn't get it into reverse. At first Nissan said that it probably wasn't the transmission but once they got the car they said there was metal in the pan and it would have to be replaced. It is a $5,000.00 repair!!! Nissan said they haven't seen that really happen before on that car and that it is a great car. That's funny to me because I have read several complaints about this exact problem and it sounds like Nissan doesn't want to admit they made a faulty transmission. Anyways I will be trading this vehicle in as soon as I get it back from the dealership.

Did the transmission service on our Nissan Altima at 56000 miles found metal pieces on the bottom of the pan and in the filter. The pieces where part of the bands in the transmission. Fluid color was motor oil light brown color. Car was still driving fine with no real issue but knew the transmission was on its way out. I took the car to the dealer showed them the pieces. They drove the car and said nothing was wrong and they could do nothing. Contacted Nissan corporate they stood behind the dealer even though I sent them pictures of the broken parts. I could not risk my family being stranded with a failing car. I traded the car in and ate the depreciation of the car. When driving the car I could start to see the RPM jump very very slightly while doing normal driving. With my luck the car would have failed just outside of warranty. Shame on Nissan not standing behind there product even with proof of the problem. Last Nissan I will ever purchase.

I bought the car in Oct. 2018 and had transmission problems by the following month (Nov. 2018). I had bought this car because I needed a reliable car and then this happened. I had to borrow money from family to get it fix so that I could go to work. Very expensive to get fixed - it was around $3800.00, plus I had just registered the car which registration cost was $1200.00 overall. Just in the first month of having this car I spent over $5000.00. I decided to buy this car because of their great reviews and this happened!
