The headlights of the Nissan Altima 2014 are too dim for safe driving after dark. The low beams, on regular setting, barely shine in front of the vehicle and provide little to no lighting for the surrounding roadways. The peripheral view of the road and/or medians, while driving, is obsolete. While driving the highway at night, I am forced to turn on the high beams in order to see a few feet in front of me. On more than one occasion, I have completely missed a car driving on either side of me, because of this issue. Even after replacing both bulbs, the lack of lighting is evident. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle at night, when I do not have the help of the city street lights. I have researched this problem with Nissan Altima and it seems to be an issue for 2013-2015 Altima. After speaking with a mechanic, it was confirmed that this issue is rampant among Altima owners. Replacing the bulbs for the headlights does little to solve the issue, and the only other option is $1,000 worth of work to improve the problem. This is an ongoing issue that should be addressed for all individuals who own this car. Inadequate lighting, which is an understatement in this case, is a major safety hazard for the drivers of these vehicles not to mention everyone who shares the road with them.

We purchased this car new in late 2013. Over the past few years we have had dimness in the front passenger side headlight. Have changed bulbs for both sides with no success on the passenger side. Lights remain dangerously dim... so much so that we need to use the brights to see at night. Reading other complaints this is definitely a safety recall issue on the Altima which should be addressed.

Despite replacing the bulbs and even trying hid light bulbs for the car, it is nearly impossible to drive at night due to the headlights being so dim. You literally have to drive with your bright lights (high beams) on in order to see more than a few feet ahead of you as you drive. It is extremely dangerous and poses risk not only to the driver because they can't see without driving with high beams on, but also to oncoming traffic being subjected to blinding lights in their eyes.

The headlight low beams were very dim. I replace the entire headlight assembly. About 1/3 of the reflective surface inside the projector was burn off and parts were cracked from the heat of the head lamp. The headlights were so dim at times it was impossible to see the road. This is a very unsafe condition and should not happen in a five year old car. The dealer wanted about $1000 to repair as both the right and left headlight assemblies need to be replaced. I was able to purchase the genuine Nissan parts for about half that price and I did it myself.

The halogen projector headlights are dangerously dim as time goes on and new bulbs do not fix the problem. Other Altima owners report this same issue and I suspect that the bowl with reflective coating on the projectors is bad. The headlights are very dim and can only illuminate less than 100 feet. The high beams do not have this issue as they are only halogen bulbs and not projectors. One must drive with the high beams on to safely see on the highway and on dark streets and this is not safe for surrounding drivers either.

My 2014 Nissan Altima headlights are very dim and I have to drive with brights on just to see at night. This is a real safety concern. I have replaced the bulbs twice with led and hid and they have not fixed the problem.

"takata recall" I purchased this vehicle in October 2018. Since the purchase, my low beam headlights have made me run completely off of the road once and almost got hit by another vehicle because of the severely dim; almost non-existent low beams. Therefore I have been forced to drive at night using only my high beams because as a single mother of 4, I cannot afford to replace or repair entire assemble. I have replaced the bulbs a couple times and was told by a mechanic at local parts store that the "projector" has obviously gone out and that all Altima with that type of lights experience issue. Please help me.

Headlight covers---front headlights are so dim (low light) that you can barely see at night. I took it to a mechanic to change the bulbs to stronger bulbs twice and I was told that the issue is the light cover, it does not allow light through. I know other owners have complained about the same thing, it is very dangerous to drive at night when you are not in a city or lit up town, I drive with the high beams on which is also not safe for other drivers. :(

Our 2014 Nissan Altima began experiencing a deterioration of it's headlights over the past few months. At present, unless the high beams are on, the lights do not illuminate the road at all. Drivers are forced to either use high beams, which may blind or bother oncoming traffic, or be left with no effective headlights if on low beam.

I can't see at night using the dim lights. I have changed them 3 times, and put the most expensive/powerful/brightest lights I could buy, and paid mechanics 3 times to change them (you have to go up through the wheel well skirting), and the brightness I get is like candle light. I try not to ever have to drive it at night.

The headlights on low beam does not produce enough light to see the sides of the road or any object within 5 to 10 feet in front of car. Replaced bulb with upgraded bulbs and it did not help. Very unsafe to drive at night. I can't drive when it is raining to hard to see. This is only with the low beam. This has become worse over time. I brought this car new. I have less then 100000 miles.

1) frontal passenger air bag. It always says off, even when there's a passenger. I'm not sure whether this is a takata inflator. (this occurs every time all the time when the engine is running, wether idleing, drive, neutral and reverse) 2) headlights. The headlights (both) continually get dimmer and dimmer until you are unable to see causing a very dangerous situation. (this occurs every time all the time when the engine is running, wether idleing, drive, neutral and reverse)I have had or changed my light bulb(s) at least (6) times in the 16 months I have had the vehicle. I have been stopped by law inforcement several times and a livery driver I have had customer complaints.

The vehicle has dim lighting and is getting worse as time goes by. It is difficult to see at night and I use the high beams to be able to see the dark roadways and signs, which causes blindness to oncoming traffic. It is very difficult to see and I believable that Nissan will not take responsibility over this. Replacing bulbs does not fix the issue nor does warranty cover the cost.

The low beam headlights do not project enough light to drive safely at night. This issue has gotten worse over time forcing the constant use of high beams in order to drive after dark. Driving with low beams creates a safety issue because the low beams only illuminate about a car length and driving constantly with high beams also creates a safety hazard. I replaced the bulbs 3 times in 3 months choosing brighter bulbs each time, as well as buying factory bulbs from the Nissan dealer, but nothing changed.

When driving in the late evening or night time, I am unable to see the street ahead of me while driving. My low beam lights are very dim. I noticed this about four months ago. My vehicle currently have approximately 79400 miles on it. I have googled this situation and found that this is common among Nissan Altima in this time frame.

The headlights especially the driver side I can barely see from. I thought headlight was out of adjustment and got it checked and they said it appears to be a flaw with the reflectors. I can not see anything hardly from the driver side headlight. I have to drive with high beams on. Also after searching this type of issue I found that several other people have complained about the same issue.
