My 2014 Nissan Altima low beam head lights are becoming dangerously dim to drive at night. They have been what I believe dim for a few years, but have been progressively getting worse. To the point I feel it is now a safety hazard for me to drive at night. After doing research, I am realizing this is a common problem with 2014-2106 Nissan Altima. I guess the coating inside the projector beam light housing wears off or deteriorates preventing a good beam of light. Changing to a higher quality light bulb also does not fix this problem. Only way to fix is apparently to replace the entire light housings which from what I understand cost around $1000 from Nissan. I have seen enough comments from other Nissan Altima with this same generation, that I feel this is an issue that Nissan should be addressing.

My headlights on dim quit working so I thought it was the bulbs, went to the Nissan dealer and had new bulbs put in and it was just as bad if not worse. Call the dealer they said it was the projection system that alot of these models had that problem but it wasn't a recall yet. I checked on google and many people have the same issue and don't have the $1200 to get it fixed. When I turn my lights on dim it is like someone shut them off completely. This car is useless at night and I will never buy another Nissan because of this dangerous problem that they should be a recall on and isn't. someone will die in this car one day I just hope I can get rid of it before it is me or one of my grandkids. A car with no lights are night is a death trap!!

I purchased my 2014 Nissan Altima 6 years ago. Over time the headlights have become very dim. It is almost impossible to drive at night without using my high beams because my headlights are so dim. I cannot drive in the rain at night because I can't see the markings on the highway. I have changed the bulb at least 4 times and that has not helped. I have other drivers flashing me because they think my lights aren't on.this is a real safety issue. It should not take a horrible accident with casualties to remedy this issue. There should be an immediate recall on the headlight assemblies.

For the past 2 years, I changed the light bulbs 3 times. The problem is the projectors not the light. This is accident about to happen. They are just candles. I must drive with high beam which is very bright and it not fair for the driver in front of me. Nissan dealer wants $700 to replace the projectors.

Head lights became very dim over time, even with new bulbs; eventually could only see well a few yards ahead of the car. Other cars we currently own and have previously owned have never had this problem. After searching for a solution online, had the full head light assembly replaced on both sides. This resolved the problem. Dealer did not indicate any knowledge of this problem and would not do this for free, even though this was safety hazard. Purchased the replacement assemblies from carparts.com. Replacement was done by lexington autoworks.

My low beam lights are barely lighting up the road even after changing the bulbs. It's coming from the silver housing part that holds the bulbs and Nissan needs to replace this. I almost hit a person walking last night. I was driving down a dark road going slow. I have to use my fog lights just to help me out some and it's still not enough lighting. My brights work great it's just the low beam.

Low beam headlights are so dim that the car cannot be driven at night. There needs to be a recall for Nissan to address this problem as it is a common problem on these cars.

The low beam headlights are not bright enough. Halogen, low beam (H11) bulbs are what is required for this vehicle, but ot is not bright enough. Switching out the halogen for hid and led is also not bright enough. The low beam lights illuminate up to 1 - 2 feet in front of vehicle. While driving at night the low beam is not bright enough to see what is in front of you and is a safty issue.

2014 Nissan Altima S, projector headlamp assembly is defective and in order to see at night, I must drive with my high-beams. I have contacted Nissan and they want to charge me over $200 just to "troubleshoot" the issue even though I told them about this defect. A lot of Nissan Altima owners from 2013-2018 are having this issue, yet Nissan does not issue a recall and we are expected to pay them about $1,000 for a new set of headlamp assemblies. This is a very serious safety issue. Please help us get Nissan to be responsible for this defective design and issue a mandatory recall at their expense. Thank you.

The contact owns 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at 30 mph, the beam projected from the headlamps were inadequate for safe vehicle operation. The contact stated that the hi-beam was activated for safe vehicle operation. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. A local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,300.

I have a 2014 Nissan Altima 2.5S model. After the first couple years I noticed the headlights getting dimer and dimer to the point where it was unsafe to drive at night. I had the oe bulbs replaced with lid lights and it did nothing for the projection of the headlamps still dim. So I than had hid bulbs put in and same thing no projection out of the lenses. I got on a Nissan forum and it talked about the inside of the lens loosing its reflecting ability. So I went to the Nissan dealer in renton where I had purchased my car and was told to call the Nissan 800 number. I did call and spoke to a jennifer. Told her everything I just stated its obvious if you look thru the lens that you can see the internal reflection ability is gone. She told me I had to take it to Nissan and pay for the diagnosis and repairs to get it back to oe. If you look at the Nissan forum this is a severe occurring issue. So yonker Nissan and Nissan of North America it seems safety is not an issue to me or my family so neither is my business that goes for both of you.. and I do hope you train your Nissan of North America staff on the magnusson act cause aftermarket gives a 10 year warranty on the lens assemblies to your 1 year.so I don't have to take it to Nissan.

I bought my vehicle 2yrs old and after 1yr of owning it, I noticed the lights were starting to get lower, making it very difficult to see the road when driving at night. Eventually I had to start permanently driving with my high beams on in order to be able to see some part of the road at night. This is extremely dangerous trying to drive and making turns in the dark where there is little to no street lighting.available. This issue has also caused a deterioration in my eyesight from continuously straining my eyes at night.

I own a 2014 Nissan Altima, over the time of ownership I have noticed the headlights getting dimmer and dimmer, I assumed it was the bulbs aging and replaced this on 02/15/2020. The new bulbs (silvania silverstars) were supposed to be brighter. There were not much brighter. Later when I went to the dealership they suggested new headlight assemballies as the chrome painting on the insides of the lenses has faded and as a result is not reflecting much light onto the road. The estimated cost of this repair was 800$. I have never owned a car where the headlights have failed in this matter and as a student it is unacceptable and dangerous to have low beams that are so dim they do not even appear to be on at night. Googling this issues shows many forums where people are complaining about the same issue I was having with new headlight assemblies fixing the issue.

Headlights are very dim. Unable to see at night while driving with low-beams on. I paid $250 to replace the headlamps with no luck. After doing some research, it appears this is a well known issue. This seems like a safety issue so I am wondering why there is no recall?

Low beam headlights are too dim to be safe. I've taken this to the dealer twice, and each time been told to try new bulbs. Following their advice, bulbs have been replaced twice now, once with hid, and again with led. Both options gave very little to no increase in visibility. Dangerous to drive the car after dark as the headlights only provide light 10-15 feet beyond the front bumper.

Can not see at night due to very dim headlights, high beams work fine just not the low beams. Have replaced bulbs and even the local dealer can not figure it out. I can only see while driving at night about 20 feet in front of me which is dangerous on dark rural and interstate highways.
