Bought this car used. When I asked salesman why the brakes were squealing, he told me because of cold, dust, water...B.S! My dad taught me about cars and because i'm a female, he thinks i don't know. Anyway, it kept doing it. Took it to a Nissan dealership, they told me it was because it had after market brakes. So I told them to replace them with name brand good brakes. Got the car back in 2 hours, drove it, it sounded normal for about 3 days and here it is Feb. 27th and the brakes are still doing it, only in reverse. I called again and they told me to try a spray called High Temperature Brake grease. I guess it is supposed to stop the squealing of the brake pads against the rotors. So I will be trying that. If that don't fix it, then I guess I am stuck with it. Really love this car and don't want to go trade it for something else. Also asked why tire pressure kept going low on my right passenger tire, kept adding air. Finally had it with refilling the air, took it to have it checked and well there was a nail in my tire. Now I don't understand why the mechanics at these dealerships didn't check that. I feel like Nissan is being lazy and not caring about the people who purchase their vehicles. Shame on them!

Embarrassing squeaking when backing out of garage to go to work and when leaving work in the afternoons. Brakes feel fine but just sound awful as if I'm driving a Hooptie! The noise, however, lasts only a few minutes but should not be happening in the first place. The dealer says there is nothing wrong with my brakes and recommended a brake flush at my last service at just under 18,000 miles. They said it was a little early to have it done but since I was there, they could go ahead and do it. I was leaning towards them doing it and asked them if this would stop the squeaking and they said no! I declined! They claimed not to hear any squeaking but I heard it when I drove it in to be serviced and again driving out of their garage! I settled on a Nissan only because there were very few 2015 Subaru Legacys in stock at the Subaru dealership when I was ready to buy one. I should have waited the four weeks for them to restock.

Brakes started to squeal when the car is cold and during the rain. Now they squeak all of the time. Took the car to the dealership complaining about the breaks (pun intended). The service tech told me that that's the way the brakes are made these days to where they are metal on metal so the are louder than they were before. Funny how this problem seems to be really prevalent on the 2015 Altimas though.
Now how am I supposed to tell if the squeal I'm hearing is the brake warning when they need to be replaced when the squeal when everything is "normal"?
I'll just get them replaced with aftermarket brakes or get rid of the Altima whichever comes first.

Purchased new Nissan Altima 2015 2.5 S (Sports Value Package). Car so far is great except for squeaky brakes. Brakes squeak something awful when cold. In carport at home and work it's extremely loud and it is embarrassing. Everyone turns and looks when I back up and when I put the brakes on. I am so unhappy. The mechanics I have spoken to say it will cost me too much in labor to take brakes apart and turn rotors and sand brakes a little and this may only help for a while. It was recommended to wait until need brakes and just pay for new ones. It's awful and too bad. Not much I can do right now. Any suggestions is welcome.
Update from May 4, 2016: Update, on 4/27/16 went to Gardena Nissan in Gardena, CA. Per mechanic, Nissan is complying with governmental brake pad law (at least in California). Law wants to reduce asbestos in all brake pad manufacturers eventually (this will help clean up the water contaminants on the West Coast per Government web site). All manufacturers have a time line to reduce asbestos in all break pads but they are including copper materials. The copper maybe be making all the noise. Check web site for California Brake Pad Law for more information. I am sure this brake pad law will incorporate the whole US soon. All cars new or old will have squeaky brakes for a while. It's a shame. Time line does state by 2025 the copper materials will be reduced. These restrictions apply to all new vehicles and all replacement parts sold in California. I encourage you to file your squeaky brake complaints to Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) or Consumer's Guide to Automotive Repair who needs to hear the complaints......Mary

I noticed the brakes squeaking or grinding intermittent recently. So I brought my car in to my local Just-For-Brakes down the street and the guy at the shop looked at me funny when I mentioned that I had a 2015 and thought the brake pads may be wearing and need a change. I have almost 30k miles on my Altima and he mentioned that I should not be anywhere near a pad change. I then brought it to another place for an opinion and he mentioned that if the car has been idle for extended periods of time (6-9 hours) that residue/rust can build up and when I brake after that period of time it is just wearing said residue off the brake pad. (My gut tells me... that doesn't sound right.) I will have to bring this into a dealership as I read these other reviews this seems to be a possible issue.

Brakes were moderately squealing - reported to service when I brought in for first oil change but was told they did not detect any noise and it was probably some gravel in the brakes but to report if it does not go away.
Called a month later when I felt the noise was more noticeable. I set up an appointment but a storm was predicted so set up another appointment. Different service adviser (female) asked me to bring in the night before as it is more easily detected right away in the morning. I had a 10:15 appointment - brought it in the night before - message on my phone the next morning at 9:10 that they were replacing my rear brakes.
No charge - oil was changed - AWESOME service! LOVE THIS DEALERSHIP!!!
No gripes - just wanted it out there for others to know what happened to my Altima.

The car had 8 miles when I got it. How is it that needs new brakes before my first car payment is even due! Car is still under warranty so I took it to the dealer last week and I was told the brakes were fine. The next day they start squeaking again.
