The paint began to fade away above the windshield on the roof. Both spots were in the shape of rectangles. The paint is now fading in the whole area and starting behind the moon roof. Took the car to Nissan about a year ago to see if they would fix it or if there might be recalls on the paint. The service department told us the car was too old and they would not touch the paint. We haven't fixed it as we were trying to sell it about the time the problem started and figured we would lower the price for that problem to the new owner. No bites on the sale of the car. We were told again, recently, the same thing - the car is too old and they won't fix it.

As a comparison, I've checked our 2004 Jeep Cherokee for wear and tear on the paint. There is none. The original paint is there and looks perfectly fine. Mileage on the Jeep is more than double that of the Armada. We're ordering a paint touch-up kit on the internet. It's highly annoying that Nissan still will not admit to the paint problems. I found an article from 1992 concerning paint problems in a Florida newspaper. Nissan investigated and said it was because of acid rain.

Update from Apr 27, 2015: Having the roof and hood of the car painted at our expense. Nissan claims the cause is environmental. Rust has developed along the ridge of the roof along with the delamination of the paint. See the update on the 2010 Altima for further comments. The problems are the same on both cars. Nissan's response is the same on both cars.

Update from Jul 1, 2015: The Armada was repainted by our local, reliable body shop. The rust and fading of paint was caused by delamination of the clear coat. This is caused by improper application of the paint or the use of poor quality paint products. The body shop guarantees the paint job for life. When we picked up the Armada from the body shop another one drove in with the exact same paint problem.
