When my 2005 Armada brake light came on I pressed the brake and there was a loud grinding noise that also sounded like a spring. I pulled over and restarted my Armada and the brake light and noise went away. I took it to the dealership and they said they were unable to find anything wrong. So the same thing happened again a few weeks later, again I took it to the dealership and they said nothing was wrong. They said next time the issue comes up do not turn the vehicle off and bring it into the dealership so they can test it with the brake light on. This was very inconvenient because the next two times it happened the dealership was closed. Finally when it happened again the dealership was open and they were able to test it. It turns out the brake booster is failing and would cost $900 to fix. Since my Armada was no longer under warranty it was not covered but when I brought it in to the dealership originally I had 30K miles, plus I bought a 75K extended warranty. I have seen several reports of this problem online and can't figure out why this is not a recall due to the fact the brakes should be the safest thing on your vehicle.

I was driving in heavy traffic and a car unexpectedly put on the brakes in front of me. I had to hit mine suddenly. My brake pedal went almost to the floor and make a sound like tin cans getting crushed and the brake light came on. The brakes continued to do this until I got to my destination. I didn't know what to do. My brakes wouldn't stop correctly and I was scared I wouldn't be able to stop. I had my husband leave his job an hour away and come get me. He drove it to the closest brake shop. They didn't see any issues such as pads, fluid, etc and it wasn't symptomatic. When turning off the car and back on, it cleared up. The brake issue happened again approx 1 1/2 week later and on a Saturday, then on the sun. I was not at home at the time. I did research and found that my Armada had this issue with 1000's of owners of this model. There is even service tech bulletins. The code clears and will fix temporarily when the engine is turned off. This is a serious issue. I can easily lead to a serious accident B/C the brakes will not stop like they are supposed to and you don't know when this is going to happen. I took to the dealership on Monday and they said it was the brake booster and it will cost $810. They said Nissan will not cover it since it is not recalled. This is not a maintainance issue this is a factory flaw. The dealership didn't have the part for 2 days and told me not to go great distances because this was very dangerous. I contacted Nissan consumer repairs from the dealership and they said I should procede home with caution.

I started having serious safety issues with my 2005 Nissan Armada. The parking brake light came on and the Armada became difficult to brake. This has occurred several times over the last 6 months. While braking, I could hear a grinding noise and a spring popping. I only had approximately 25 percent braking power. The problem would go away after I turned the vehicle off and back on. Searched the internet and found the problem to be quite common and the fix to be quite simple: Just take it into the dealership with fault code C1179 and tsb ntb06-040 and have them reprogram the vdc. I did so. The dealership told me that my Armada did show fault code C1179, but that my vehicle already had that latest software so my problem is likely not fixed. $68 to update nothing and the dealership has left me to continue driving the unsafe vehicle without providing a fix. I want Nissan to correct this issue before someone is killed. A search of the internet shows that numerous Armada owners have had the same problem. Spoke with Nissan corporate (david at 866-799-1690 X1476) but he too failed to acknowledge the deficiency and acted as though my issue was 1 in a billion despite overwhelming complaints by Nissan Armada/titan owners. Nissan has got away with essentially ignoring this serious safety issue.

The first time the brake issue occurred was at the first start of the day. I turned on the vehicle began reversing out of my drive when I applied the brakes the warning light came on and a loud scraping sound came from the front end. I could also feel the grinding in the brake pedal. When the vehicle was turned off then restarted problem was gone. A few weeks later the incident happened again. This time it was the middle of the day and the car had already been driven before. Again when the brakes were applied a loud grinding noise was heard and vibrations in the brake pedal. Again turning the vehicle off then restarting got rid of the problem.

I have a 2005 Nissan Armada. And I think that is a computer clinch in the brake system. I have had my brakes check at he dealership and they said there no problems but I have had incident where I have been driving and when I press on the brake it felt like it was just hitting medal. This has happened more than five time. And I have been fortunate enough not to be traveling in access speed. When this happen I have to turn the vehicle off and restart it and the problem is fix. I have told the dealer about it and they just do visual look without checking if there is a computer problem. Also my brother has a 2004 infinity and he has the same problem with his vehicle.

This is pertaining to a 2005 Nissan Armada that we purchased brand new. Soon after purchase, the brakes began chattering and we took it to dealer. They fixed the brakes based on recommended upgrade per Nissan. A couple of month later, the car had a brake failure that was remedied by turning off engine and restarting. There were no problems since until two days ago when the brakes failed again. Nissan has been contacted and we are expecting a call back from a regional expert as to how to get brakes fixed. We received call from Nissan dealer that said that they do not know about this problem with other Nissan Armada's and that we would have to pay to get it looked at. This car only has 13,500 miles on it. We are very concerned about the safety since this is a completely random brake failure occurrence and is remedied by restarting car and is difficult to duplicate. The symptoms include very loud sound in engine bay followed by brake pedal sinking to floor and no brakes activating.

Last week we vacationed in gatlinburg, tenn...at our family reunion in the mountain at a chalet.....I purchased my 2005 Nissan Armada and it had 50000 miles on it inapril. At 53000 I was descending the mountain and in my opinion not riding the brakes, although I delayed into shifting in to low. The grade on the descent was very steep and all I remember is the brake light and a loud noise coming from the front end of the vehicle and a gradual then dramatic decrease in my brakability. I was shaken and pulled over. In a couple of minutes I proceeded a little more and found the brake to almost disappear. I luckily found a driveway on an incline and pulled up and put it in park. I sat and wondered what to do because I was in such a dangerous mountain curve that was difficult to get help in. When I calmed down, I called my brothers to help me and let them know my location. When I saw a chance I put the vehicle in reverse and backed up, putting the Armada in drive to reach a pull off point going uphill. I shut the Nissan off and got out and waited. After a half an hour my brothers showed up and drove the vehicle without any problem. They told me I just rode my brakes and needed to let them cool off, but I thought they were right until I received this list of complaints and hear the same symptoms I experienced.....I will watch for this again and since we have a 6000 lbs family trailer we haven't use yet -I am eager to get the solution. Nissan needs to troubleshoot this problem and resolve the computer glitch before someone gets killed. I am a experienced school bus driver and an off road lover and I was able to handle the situation.......I would not like an inexperienced driver to have the same situation. I had no parts replaced because my family convinced me I was at fault and rode the brakes heating them up, and I just had new brakes before we left on vacation.

2005 Nissan Armada, when I was driving the SUV and suddenly the brake lock in. The master cylinder for the brake system just locked in and the brake light is on. I replaced the brake fluid in the reservoir and it is still the same. I also replaced the master cylinder.

2005 Nissan Armada le, 56K miles multiple electrical issues resulting in loss of critical functions: Braking system, air bags, electrical power all while the vehicle is being driven. Have taken to dealership 8 times for repairs related to electrical problems. Most recently, loss of brakes occurred while traveling on a major road @ 50 mph; lost brake function when approached stop light. This has happened multiple times, I have reported it to the dealer 4 times. Each time the code is "cleared" but nothing is done. This time they are replacing the ABS booster, but from reading posts of other owners, the problem recurs. Dealer refuses to report problem to Nissan.
