Over the past couple of years, I have been experiencing a problem with the brakes on my 2006 Nissan Armada. Every 3-6 months the brakes will make a scary noise (can't really describe it - grinding/clanking), the brakes work at about 10% and the brake light goes on. Once the vehicle is turned off, the brake light goes out, the noise disappears and the brakes work at 100% once again. So far it has not happened in a situation where I had to stop suddenly. If it does, there will be an accident, which could result in injuries or even death. I can't believe all the complaints that have been posted about this one "same" problem and there has not been a recall issued. I'm not sure what more the consumers can do, but I will be contacting Nissan and others to see what more can be done.

I was driving home from work and I go to stop the vehicle and my brakes made shuttering and clanging noises. Then I notice the brake light came on. Every time I tried to stop I heard that noise and had a very difficult time stopping I almost ran into the back of another vehicle. I was about 20 miles from the dealer so I put my hazard light on and drove on the far left hand side of the freeway and proceeded to drive between 10 to 30 miles/hr in rush hour traffic until I got to the dealership. Once I got to the dealer and explained my problem. He seemed to know what it was like he had experience dealing with that particular problem. The next day the dealer called me to explain that the delta sensor inside the brake booster had failed and it would cost me over $900.

As I was driving at stop and go traffic speeds of 25 mph or less, my brake light came on with a spongy feeling from the brake pedal as well as a grinding noise from the brakes. Brought vehicle to sears and they did a brake inspection (mechanical) and found nothing wrong. Paid for a brake inspection and they recommended replacement of brake pads but I had recently inspected brakes at another shop that did not recommend replacement. On 2/28/12, same problem occurred and I pulled to the side of the road and turned the car off, inspected brake fluid (sat) and started the engine back up with no signs of failure. Took vehicle to my personal mechanic and code reader found C1179 delta stroke sensor fault. He reset it and problem has since gone away but I am weary of brake reliability in the future.

On multiple occasions my recently purchased 2006 Armada has had an issue with the brakes where the braek light comes on, there is a terrible grinding sound, & I lose about 75% of my brake function. I only purchased this truck about 5 months ago & it has happened 3X. No telling how many times it happened to the previous owners. This is extremely dangerous. Nissan fails to recognize this is happening even though a simple internet search will show 100S, if not 1000S of Armada owners with the same issue. Something needs done asap!! the dealership couldn't "recreate" the problem to fix it, but it's likely if they could, then they'd have to admit what was wrong & that it is Nissan's fault. Beware!!

While driving @ approximately 30-35 mph approaching an intersection and slowing down to make a left turn, I noticed that my parking brake light was illuminated on the dash even though I don't have it on. When I tried to step on the brake to stop, a grinding noise was observed coming from my tires and the vehicle shaking as if my brakes locked on my tires. Same thing happened after I made a left turn and stopped on a 4- way stop.

While driving, the following indicator lights came on: Vdc, ABS and brake. When I applied the brakes, there was a horrible grinding noise which scared me to death. I continued on cautiously and fortunately it did not make the same sound the next time I braked. The Nissan service department said it was a sensor that went bad and the ABS brake system that possibly was bad. I paid over $500 to get it fixed and had to sign an agreement that what they did may not fix it, and if so, the brake booster would then need to be replaced at a cost of $1000. I found out afterwards that there had been a recall of the very same issue but not on my vehicle because the VIN did not match the recall. Very suspect.

I was operating my 2006 Nissan Armada and was traveling at highway speeds when I noticed that my brake light was on. I tested the brakes and immediately heard a grinding and popping noise and noises that indicated to me that the ABS was activating off and on. The pedal was very soft and my braking effectiveness was severely diminished. Had I needed to make a sudden stop or been expecting my brakes to react normally, I would not have been able to stop in a safe distance. I pulled to the side of the road and visually inspected the brakes and found no issues. I checked the brake fluid level and saw that it was fine (just below the max mark and well above the min). By this time my brake light, vdc off, and slip light were all illuminated. I shut the vehicle off then restarted it. The three lights were still lit, but the brakes were reacting normally. Error code C1179 was pulled from the vdc module. Eventually, the brake booster (with the delta stroke sensor) and the pressure sensors were replaced by the Nissan dealership at my expense. I also found that many consumers have reported similar braking issues on consumeraffaris.com. Nissan Armada forums describe similar issues with brake failures and warning lights. Many take their car to a Nissan dealership only to be told that a problem cannot be found. I bought my Nissan Armada brand new in 2007. It is a 2006 model. The vehicle is very stylish but it is like a death trap. When the bumper to bumper warranty ran out @ 36,000 miles, my brakes have been an issue. Every year I have had to get brakes put on the Armada and it has to be Nissan brakes because I tried other brakes and they squeal and grind. Now I have an rather scary situation. I was driving 25mph and put my brakes on and my SUV started nose diving in the front end and the brake light came on, not to mention, the brakes would not work properly. It was catching and releasing about 4 times, each time I would brake. I almost hit a car. I drove it to a mechanic right then, and they ran scan on the brake code since the light came on during this event. The code is C1179. Apparently this is a dealer issue. I called the Nissan dealership I bought the Armada from and they told me I needed a software update for the ABS system. Really" this is not a recall issue? I have read several reviews and they are are having ABS issues. Come on Nissan, how many lives have to be lost or injured before you recall this ABS problem" why would they charge consumers $120 for a computer update to the system if it is clearly a manufacturer defect... the other issues are: Drivers side seat is ripping, poor material, the drivers side floor mat is sliding under the driver pedal, the blind spot is a severe issue on the left drivers side, paint chips easily, bad gas mileage, radiator leaks, strut is bad on the passenger front side, which is causing it to leak on the pavement when parked.

I own a 2006 Nissan Armada SUV and since I have owned it I have had 4 separate instances of little or no brakes issue. The dash "brake" light comes on and if you apply the brakes you hear and feel the ABS system working...giving you little or no brakes when needed. I have research the issue and found many with the same problem with there Nissan Armada's. Nissan is aware of the problem but no fix in place yet...and no recall. Someone is going to get killed or kill other with there 6000lb SUV that can't stop when this issue happens. I feel I should not have to pay for a service call on this issue...this is a safety issue! the brake system is fine 95% of the time...but you never know when this will pop up and you have no brakes! if the SUV is shut off and restarted it goes away and drives and brakes normal....till whatever triggers this issue shows up again at some point in the future. Nissan needs to get this fixed and have a recall asap! I love my Nissan but this scares me! my wife drives this SUV most of the time with our 4 kids in it. Some have had a tbs done to the SUV but it comes back over time. How do we go about getting this fix?
