The contact owned a 2006 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH and approaching a stop sign, the contact became aware of smoke and then fire coming from underneath the hood. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact and passenger exited the vehicle safely. The contact stated that she had minor hip pain but did not seek medical attention. The contact stated that the Fire Department arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire but not before the vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number 10V517000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and 08V284000 (Equipment) for which the VIN was included. The approximate failure mileage was 182,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Armada. The contact was driving 55 mph when the vehicle began shaking followed by brief unintended acceleration and stalling. The vehicle would immediately restart as the failure would recur at least twice within one month. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who inspected the vehicle and advised the contact that the engine control module (ECM) relay failed and should be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that there was a recall but his VIN was not included (NHTSA campaign id number: 10V517000- engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 85,000.
