Elgrand Highway Star 2.5L V6

I got the AA out to fix my Nissan Elgrand 2005 2.5 v6 engine - it just stopped. The engine would not start again with the fuel gage reading 1/2 full. AA asked me what happened, I told him, he towed me to garage plugged in his machine but could not find my Nissan on his reader, but told me it was 99per cent crank shaft sensor, so I bought one, got it fitted and my cost still wouldn't start. So I put on elgrand website and some one said check fuel so I called garage to explain they put £20 in fuel tank and it fired up.

So much for AA.

Anyway this gauge is the problem so must be a design problem as I have been reading. Can I complain to Nissan dealer?
