On 04/20/03 I experienced a severe vibration while driving my '99 Nissan Frontier at 65 mph. As I pulled over, the right rear tire (oem Firestone wilderness ht P215/65R-15) shed most of its tread. Tire was replaced and remaining tires were checked and found to be in good condition. One week later, the left rear tire began a similar vibration for a few seconds, then exploded at 65 mph, destroying most of the sheet metal and body supports behind the wheel well. Tires had 48K miles, good tread, and were properly inflated to mfrs. Specs.

While on the hwy. The tire blew up. The SC. Hwy. Emrgency patrol came when they took the tire off they stated the tire was defective. I had just been to Firestone on 8/3/01 and had my tires rotated as per the car manual. Either the tire was defected as S.H.E.P. has stated or they incorrectly inflated my tire. When it blew it caused the rim to hit the ground and damaged the rim. I have call Firestone and went to the dealership with no luck. I glad to be alive hwy 85 at rush hour is scary. All four of our tires are the same brand and dot number. These tires are not currently listed on the recall list. They came on our 1999 Nissan truck when we purchased it new. One of the tires has already separated and was discovered before causing an accident. Since all 4 tires had the same dot numbers, we replaced all 4 of them immediately with non-Firestone tires to prevent an accident and possible death. We did not discard the Firestone tires in case we needed them for inspection purposes. Again, we do have possession of the Firestone tires.( dot number: W2vf nna tire size: P215/65R15 )

All tires on this vehicle have splits in the area where the tread and sidewall joins.although there have been no failures at this point, if these are not replaced soom failure is a given. I recently measured the tread depth on these tires and found 7/32 remaining indicating proper presure and alignment have been maintained.please add this tire line to your ongoing investigation into the Firestone tire failures. Thak you, R oger knipptained.( dot number: 027537 tire size: P21565R15 )

When truck was new(less than 200miles)- all 4 tires (also at's) were replaced with new ones (tread was uneven). Now replacements are doing the same thing at 20,000miles. Reed Nissan told me that this was a common problem at that time with this tire. Is this the same problem now being seen on other tires?( dot number: )

The tire w/traction rating of "B" is inadequate for the weight of the truck. In wet conditions the truck will skid (when approaching a stop sign)when braking. I have contacted Nissan (claim no. 2889591) and was told that it is neither general 's or Nissan's responsibilty. I disagreed with Nissan and informed them that they are responsible for selecting this tire for the truck.( dot number: Tire size: P235 70R15 )
