I have repeated problems with car stalling. They've replaced the camshaft and crank shaft sensors but it keeps coming back. I know there's a recall on other Nissan Frontiers with ECM problems and think mine could be affected.. it's not included in the reall however.

Twice my car has stalled while driving. Luckily both times in situations that I could glide off the road safely in lithe traffic and at low speed. In heavy traffic at high speed these incidents could have been catastrophic. Research shows the failure is likely the ECM relay in the ipdm or the whole ipdm itself. A new relay ($4 from the dealer) may fix it or a whole ipdm assembly ($595 from dealer) may be needed. Nissan has redesigned the ipdm assembly. That tells you something about the original parts reliability. How is Nissan getting away without recalling this dangerous failing electrical control part?

My 2005 Nissan Frontier will stall out driving down the road. It has happened going slow and fast. The truck will be running fine and all of a sudden cut off in the middle of traffic. This has caused me to almost be in several crashes. I can put the truck in neutral and it will crank back up sometimes taking several try's. I have replaced the ECM relay and did not help. This seems to be a well known problem that can get people killed. The truck has cut off at red lights and stop signs. I have been going 70mph on the inter state and the truck cuts off. The truck has lost power in a turn causing it to be really hard to turn. The worst is pulling out into oncoming traffic and my truck just cuts off.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled when the contact attempted to slow down. The vehicle started normally after a few minutes. The failure recurred four times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was an electrical short in the fuse box. The transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Vehicle has severe electrical issue with position sensors on camshaft and crankshaft. Vehicle engine stalls suddenly. This is a very dangerous condition as vehicle will loose braking and steering control at high speeds or in a incline, hill on or off road. Nissan has faulty wiring on these sensors that control the engine power, a know problem that has never been recalled. Over 100 people have suffered injuries or loss of life due to this issue. Nissan dealerships are aware of problem and several forums online including newspaper articles outline the issue.

The service engine soon dash light keeps coming on. All required service work has been performed as the owners manual states. I just had the 75,000 service performed at 76,230, and at that time the service light was staying on. The mechanic (not a Nissan dealership) did get the light to go off, but within two weeks it came back on again and stays on. Going back to the same mechanic to see what he states, but has Nissan had a problem with this light. That is my complaint as it cost me a few bucks to have light shut off, but it appears that there may be a problem with that particular light. Please note that my postal code is V0H 1X9, as it would not take it. This is an american vehicle, but I purchased it in vancouver bc on or about 26 June 2015

#1recently I noticed that my fuel gauge has been unreliable. It will show the actual fuel amount, then it will show that there is no fuel in the tank just a few moments later. Sometimes this issue lasts for a week where it shows the fuel tank to be empty while it is full. Also there is a check engine light that accompanies. #2 I live in Alaska and require the defroster vent to work in the winter. This winter starting in December I noticed that air will not blow out of the defroster vent below the windshield. I have tried numerous selections on the dial/controls without resolve. It also makes a "bubbling and clicking sound" that to me sounds mechanical in the dashboard, when the vent is trying to change from the floor vent, to the head vents, and then up to the windshield vent.

In order to remedy the failure, the contact changed the bulbs, but the failure recurred. The dealer stated that the intelligent power distribution module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that a new part was manufactured to address the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,300.

I currently own a 2005 Nissan Frontier. 3 months ago, the vehicle had been stalling on me every several days, it would immediately turn back on. Last month it began shutting down on me every 2 days, a few times on the highway, almost getting rear ended a couple of times. It would turn back on, but after several tries and after 15-20 min wait. After checking recalls on my vehicle I noticed I had not been contacted about a recall for the replacement of a ECM relay, which was causing vehicles to shutdown. This relay was replaced and vehicle had been running fine for 3 weeks, but my vehicle has now started to sputter every few days. It has shutdown on me twice in the last couple of weeks.

Passing other vehicle on I-45 towards downtown at approximately 70 mph the engine experienced intermittent stalling. I was in danger to crash others with problems to get our of the high speed lines. At that moment the engine totally stalled, . finally I was able to reach the extreme right line and pull out waiting for a complete stop. I tried to restart the engine but no help. I did not believe it but wanted be sure that no lack of fuel was the origin because I already had the problem with fuel sending unit problem which do not work properly to accurately show how much fuel is on the fuel tank. I got some extra fuel. We returned and poured the 1 gallon can, then I tried to star the engine. It cranked but no starting. I called my insurance requesting towing service. I tried two more times and after that the engine started roughly and hesitating. After 2 minutes and stabilized I decided to continue. I called my insurance company to cancel the towing service. Decided to continue on I-45 but on the extreme right hand side line. I arrived home with no other issues and after parking on my driveway, shut down the engine, then I tried to restart it but nothing. Only cranking good but no starting at all. Finally after some like 10 seconds of cranking, the engine hesitated but started. I took it to autozone, they scanned it and gave me the codes P043 for the failed fuel sendin unit ( fuel level sensor ) and the code P0335 which is problem with the circuit or signal or sensor crankshaft. I made search to find it and today, Sunday 29, after several hours, finally removed and replaced it. After this the truck starts very good as usually before the stalling experiences. Cost was some like 23 dollar but the risk in what I was and exposing others has no price. Is necessary to have a crash or fatal results for you to consider this a recall to protect others?

While driving down the road at 40mph my Frontier suddenly cut off, had no brakes or power steering. I went off the road and hit some trees. My insurance fixed my truck, even after I told them and the body shop I wanted it checked out first. I took it to the dealership and was told there was a recall with a defective ECM relay. They also informed me my radiator and transmission had a problem with the coolant leaking into the transmission. Nissan said I was out of warranty and did nothing to help but replace the part that caused my accident. The leak/ ruptured part seems like it was from the accident but my insurance and Nissan both are leaving me out on my own.

While driving the vehicle loss power and almost stalled. This happened a couple of times while driving on the highway, approx. 50mph. The second time it happened, the ses light and slip light came on. This vehicle was covered by a recall for the ECM that caused a similar issue. The ECM was replaced by a certified Nissan service center. The replacement was done 12/29/10. Now, it is happening again. A bit of research shows that Nissan has issued a voluntary recall for camshaft sensors that cause a very similar problem. However, because my VIN is not currently under that recall, I can't have Nissan replace them. This is a safety issue. The vehicle looses power then stalls while traveling in heavy traffic at 50-60 mph. That can cause a major accident and affect not only myself but others. I feel Nissan should expand their recall to include Nissan Frontiers, not just Altima, etc. Nissan has been contacted and they have opened a case file #[xxx]. no resolution has been offered by them. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
