2005 Nissan Frontier. Consumer writes in regards to fuel sending unit problem. The consumer stated the fuel sending unit should be replaced by Nissan, regardless of what month the vehicle was manufactured. The consumer stated it was obvious the same part was used on vehicles throughout the entire manufacturing process. According to the invoice, the fuel gauge would not read full.

Driving on highway around 9 pm at 65 mph. The engine stopped I was able to pull off the highway and come to a safe stop. I had run out of fuel, the fuel gauge indicated 1/8 tank of fuel left. The check engine light came on. I got fuel and drove it home. Hooked the truck to a scanner code P0463 fuel level sensor circuit high input. I believe there is a recall for this same problem on other Nissan vehicles. The dealer told me my truck was not covered by that recall. Can you tell me if my truck is covered under any other recalls for this problem? thank you.

My Nissan Frontier truck's "check engine soon" light appeared. The warning was dtc P0463. It corresponds with Nissan's technical bulletin EL07-027B, reference ntb07-069B. Nissan extended the warranty to 9/24/11 and 72,000 miles or less. My vehicle's mileage is at 32,500 miles. Nissan recognized that it had a problem with the fuel level sending unit. They even extended the warranty for it. Unfortunately, I don't drive this vehicle much. I checked on the internet. Many of the problems appeared at the 30,000 mile mark. My fuel gauge is erratic and does not show an accurate level of fuel. This problem is caused by the deterioration of the unit based on use and not time; therefore, I believe they should either recall this part or extend the warranty with either the time or mileage or unlimited. I am afraid that my fuel will run out without any warning and cause a major accident on the freeway. I am very frustrated with Nissan. They don't take ownership over their problems. I personally will not purchase a Nissan vehicle again.

Passing other vehicle on I-45 towards downtown at approximately 70 mph the engine experienced intermittent stalling. I was in danger to crash others with problems to get our of the high speed lines. At that moment the engine totally stalled, . finally I was able to reach the extreme right line and pull out waiting for a complete stop. I tried to restart the engine but no help. I did not believe it but wanted be sure that no lack of fuel was the origin because I already had the problem with fuel sending unit problem which do not work properly to accurately show how much fuel is on the fuel tank. I got some extra fuel. We returned and poured the 1 gallon can, then I tried to star the engine. It cranked but no starting. I called my insurance requesting towing service. I tried two more times and after that the engine started roughly and hesitating. After 2 minutes and stabilized I decided to continue. I called my insurance company to cancel the towing service. Decided to continue on I-45 but on the extreme right hand side line. I arrived home with no other issues and after parking on my driveway, shut down the engine, then I tried to restart it but nothing. Only cranking good but no starting at all. Finally after some like 10 seconds of cranking, the engine hesitated but started. I took it to autozone, they scanned it and gave me the codes P043 for the failed fuel sendin unit ( fuel level sensor ) and the code P0335 which is problem with the circuit or signal or sensor crankshaft. I made search to find it and today, Sunday 29, after several hours, finally removed and replaced it. After this the truck starts very good as usually before the stalling experiences. Cost was some like 23 dollar but the risk in what I was and exposing others has no price. Is necessary to have a crash or fatal results for you to consider this a recall to protect others?

My 2005 Nissan Frontier le 4X4 recorded a P0463 (fuel level sensor circuit high input) earlier this week. It cleared came back once, and now is constant. After filling the tank, the fuel gauge took approximately 20 minutes to register full. Now my fuel gauge does not work at all- it simply displays zero fuel present in the tank. I've already ran out of fuel once this week, on the highway. I've contacted a local Nissan dealership, apparently Nissan has a recall (or tsb?) for certain Nissan Frontiers- however my particular vehicle has 133,000 miles and is thus not eligible. Can you please assist?

Driving home from post office in August 2010 truck would not exceed 35 mph and started to shake intensely. I got it towed to the dealer who diagnosed $9500 to fix, I was over mileage by about 1500 miles so all out of pocket. I parked it immediately due to lack of funds, much due to a $565 payment for a $30K new truck for 5plus years. Nissan North America denied me any assistance, and was actually more rude than the have the least bit of empathy while I was told I did reach the top person who was the final say. Many months passed and I replaced the radiator and other things, so it appeared as I saved the trans from harm by parking it but now at 98000 miles the service engine light is on coding an at brake issue while the tranny is getting jumpy and sluggish again. Quick search returns a big expense and cross contamination most likely did occur and can end up costing me well over $40000 in the long run for a midsize truck that I have owned and took good care of since new and I cant even get rid of it now except for losing even more money...very unhappy as an owner of 4 Nissan in my time I really expected a quality product, now I worry about when it could go, as I was recently laid off I don't have the money for repairs or another car.

Fuel sensor & gauge malfunctioned; Nissan acknowledged the defective part, but will not replace. They doubled the warranty of the part, but I fall outside the "years owned" guidelines. Nonetheless, I feel Nissan should repair the item for free since it's been determined to be a faulty part on many vehicles and could be a safety issue.

The vehicle shut off on the hwy. This happened twice on different days. The vehicle was going at a 60-65 miles per hour speed and it shut off. I cost to the side of the hwy and turned the truck back on.

Fuel gauge inaccuracy - Nissan chose not to include model year 2005 Frontiers in a voluntary safety recall campaign that was issued on 2006 and 2008 Frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles (campaign id# pc 042). In the alternative, Nissan extended the warranty of 2005 models from 36 to 72 months. My 2005 vehicle is now exhibiting the condition the condition wherein the fuel gage reads one quarter tank, when the tank is actually empty. This resulted in an out of fuel incident occurring on the highway, a near accident and subsequently being stranded awaiting roadside assistance. Although my vehicle only has 41,000 miles - it has been 78 months since purchase and Nissan is denying my request for coverage of the repair cost. Had Nissan rightly informed me of the condition via inclusion in the recall campaign - I would have had the defective fuel sending unit replaced immediately. Instead I am being forced to cover the cost of repair for this safety defect. I therefore am requesting reimbursement for my related expenses.

Based on internet search most of this Nissan product of various years has this problem, - a definite safety issue and Nissan refuses to repair under what should be a recall in my opinion. Nhtsb should require Nissan to repair at no cost to owner.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken for refueling and when the vehicle was restarted, the fuel level gauge displayed an inaccuratly low reading of fuel. The failure recurred sporadically and in addition, the contact stated that the when depressing the accelerator pedal, the pedal would intermittently become stuck in a partially open throttle position. The vehicle was not taken to have the failures diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The failure mileage was 82,000 and the current mileage was 83,000.

Gasoline gauge not working properly in my 2005 Nissan Frontier truck. I own a 2005 Nissan Frontier w/~91,000 miles. A few weeks ago the fuel gauge stopped working correctly. The fuel level reading varies from a low fuel warning light to full with each time the truck is restarted. The "service engine soon" warning light goes on and off with each restart. The Nissan 'recall' for this problem is restricted to such a low mileage, that many vehicle owners are stuck either living with the problem or paying over $450 out of pocket to have it repaired. So much for their interest in building any brand loyalty.

I have a 2005 Nissan Frontier, I received a recall notice at 95,000 miles for the fuel gauge not working properly, problem is they only warranty the part to 75000 miles. The issue didn't start until 90,0000 miles.

On my 2005 Nissan Frontier truck the "service engine soon" lights comes on and the fuel gauge does not read the correct fuel level. One cannot tell how many miles are left in driving on the tank of fuel due to improper reports by the on-board computer along with the improper reading on the fuel gauge, creating a hazardous condition for travel, especially during night driving and in mountain pass conditions in winter. Diagnostics indicate a faulty fuel sensor, but Nissan refuses to replace as the current recall only goes to 72K miles. This problem started past 81K miles on my vehicle. It is apparent this problem is systemic and a real issue that Nissan is hard-bent on not covering, if they don't have to. They told me there was nothing they would do as my truck has too many miles on it. I advised them that they should cover the issue, given its quite apparent there is a systemic problem at hand. The Nissan representative told me there was nothing they could do as the recall does not extend that far out and they are not required to fix it, I believe they should be made to fix the problem.
