Fuel sender issue was causing the fuel gauge to not work properly. I did some research and found that there had been a recall for this issue (10V-075) and my vehicle appears to be covered as it was built in January 2006. The dealership said that my vehicle was not covered under the recall. I could not understand why it wasn't covered as my issue was exactly what the recall was for, but I needed it fixed so I paid a total of $476.67. I called Nissan Consumer Affairs dept. And opened a case (1121397) and they asked me to submit the bill I paid at the dealership, which I did, but now when I call the check on the status they don't answer. Voicemails are not returned so I don't know what is going on. Can you help??

I have a Nissan Frontier that has had failed in a number of things which are not wear and tear. They are design flaws. The fuel gauge module. The radiator/transmission leak flaw. Because of the design of the radiator, now a perfectly working tranny needs rebuilt. I also hear the tensioner for the timing chain is a defective design. My Frontier began falling apart before the 100.000 miles with design flaws. Nissan never again. A simple warning letter that my radiator needed a $300 repair would have saved me $4,000 later and not leave me stranded in traffic.

When you put gas in the vehicle the gas gauge doesn't work, goes to empty with the warning light coming on and shortly after the service engine light will come one. It doesn't matter if you put in 1 gallon of gas or if you fill up the tank. The fuel sending unit fails, Nissan dealer said they are aware of the issue but its not a recall.

My fuel gauge registered empty so a went to put gas in and it was nearly full. They told me I needed a battery. I was under warranty at the time. Now out of warranty and 3 batteries later, my gauge is broke again. I have sent emails and letters to Nissan and get no reply. I will probably never buy another Nissan as much as I do like this truck.

Fuel gauge show empty when it has a full tank.. fuel gauge will slowly get up to full and then won't drop below a quarter of a tank. You have no clue how much gas is in the vehicle. Looks like there are a ton of people complaining about the same thing online. Faulty fuel sending unit looks like the cause.

Fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank but ran out of gas driving on the freeway. There is a Nissan recall (recall PC042 - fuel gauge inaccuracy) but dealer refuses to repair, stating my VIN does not show to be included in the recall. Make, model, and year are listed in the recall. Nissan case # [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

  • 110,000 miles
Fuel gauge began to malfunction, showing and improper amount of fuel in the tank. Check engine light stays on. Fuel gauge registers incorrect level after fueling up the vehicle. I have ran out of gas on one occasion due to this. I was on the side of a busy interstate with my 6 yr old and had to cross the interstate to get assistance. This is a safety concern. Nissan tells me that my vehicle is not included in the recall and if I want to repair the vehicle it will be at my own expense. This is a widespread problem with Nissan fuel sending units on the Frontier and should be fixed in a nationwide recall, not a VIN specific recall. The product is faulty. Nissan and NHTSA should both be ashamed for not putting out a nationwide recall.

2006 Nissan Frontier le 4X4. Fuel gauge is not reading accurately. This caused me to run out of gas on November 14th, 2012, when the gauge was well above the "low gas" threshold. It was a very scary experience for me as I was in traffic at the time when the engine stalled at around 40mph. I fear this could happen again and now I'm afraid to drive with my grandkids in my truck. I researched this problem and traced it to a common defect with the fuel level sending unit that is a safety recall which affects many Nissan vehicles, including 2006 Frontier models but somehow excluding my 2006 Frontier: **************** NHTSA campaign id number: 10V075000 recall date: 2010-03-03 summary: Nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 Frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. The molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. Consequences: This could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank with a new one that has a modified float arm. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or before March 22, 2010. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261. Component affected: Fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank notes: Nissan North America, Inc. *****************

After filling gas tank it drops to empty and service engine light comes on. After driving some distance (not many miles) it goes back up and then seems to work until next fill up. It is a constant problem and I never know how much gas I have other than tracking mileage. Recall many others with same problem.

2006 Nissan Frontier. Filled the gas tank and the gauge stayed on 1/4. when I drove the vehicle again, the gas tank gauge went up to 3/4, but I'm not certain if the 3/4 is accurate. This now happens on every gas fill up. Found a recall notice online (listed below). I called my local Nissan dealer and they indicated my VIN number is not part of the recall. I call Nissan, and they stated the same thing and informed me NHTSA decides what VIN number is part of the recall and it's out of Nissan's hands. And, volunteered they did not have contact information for NHTSA. Nice customer service. NHTSA, if I'm having similar issues to the recall, how do I get my VIN number added recall id # 80825 - fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank hide details recall date: Mar 03, 2010 model affected: 2006 Nissan Frontier summary: Nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 Frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles.
