Fuel level gauge on my 2006 Nissan Frontier [xxx] gives sporadic readings: Reads empty when tank is full. After several miles gives apparently accurate reading until approximately 1/4 tank when it suddenly reads empty. This usually (but not always) occurs. Nissan claims this VIN is not covered under the current recall of this model for this exact same problem, and insists they have no obligation to fix it. Fuel gauge stopped working, making it impossible to tell how much gas is in the tank. This is dangerous and a huge inconvenience requiring me to fill up way before necessary to avoid have the truck run out of gas in the middle of the freeway. There was a recall, but my VIN didn't qualify. This is a much bigger problem than Nissan is acknowledging. They need to extend the recall to all vehicles with this fuel system design.

The fuel sending unit broke down and the gauge shows there is fuel left in the tank while it is actually empty. Danger since it increases the risk for a crash. Other VIN numbers same year and model has been recalled but mine not included.

Molded fuel tank shells can deform causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tack shell causing the instrument panel fuel gage to show vehicle one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. Vehicle ran out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.

The contact received notification of NHTSA recall campaign id number: 10V075000 (fuel system, gasoline: Storage: Auxillary tank) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs. After repairs, the vehicle began experiencing the failure and would stall without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer four times yet they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 36,000 and current mileage was 100,384.

Fuel level gauge not indicating proper level. Especially occurs immediately after fill up. Sometimes within a day or so the gauge will move to correct level and work fine until the next fill up. Other times gauge will show empty even with plenty of fuel in tank. The service engine light is also sporadic. This has been happening for over a year. Mileage when first occurred 45000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the fuel sending unit needed to replaced for $500. The manufacturer was calledl and confirmed that his VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 31,000.

2006 Nissan Frontier le 4X4 with May 2006 build date. Fuel gauge stopped registering upon fill up. Gauge needle drops to empty with low fuel light within 2 miles of fill up, followed by service engine soon light. After 3-5 days of driving, gauge intermittently starts reading actual fuel level and ses light goes off. Consequent weekly fill ups have exact same results. Nissan dealer says an active recall for fuel sending units does not cover my VIN. Impossible to tell how much fuel is in tank exactly on any given day. I use miles driven as gauge, and reset upon fill up weekly for a rough estimate.

Check engine light is illuminated due to faulty fuel sending unit. The fuel sending unit controls the vehicle fuel gauge and provides information to run on board emissions diagnostics. Dealerships refuse to cover the repair under warranty. Consumers are unable to register a vehicle when the check engine light is on because the vehicle will not pass a smog test. Safety becomes an issue due to the fuel gauge not accurately providing the correct level of fuel in the tank. A recall has already issued for a similar fuel issue on this vehicle - I believe the fix requires replacement of the fuel pump and includes the fuel sending unit.

As my vehicle uses gas the gauge sticks at about 5/16 to 3/8 full. This action causes the fuel gauge to then do unusual things such as fall to empty and throw a fault code to the obd II. Or the fuel level on the gauge will stay at approx. 5/16 to 3/8 full for a prolonged time while driving. I have contacted Nissan but they say the trucks build date falls outside of the vehicles which have been recalled. It sure seems to me that I too have a gas tank with the deformity which causes the fuel float to "catch' or "stick'.

I filled up my truck and the fuel gauge does not respond properly. It may tell me I have more or less gas than I actually do. I can turn the key off and recrank the engine and have a different reading. Recently it caused my service engine soon light to come on. Also if I am driving a long distant the gauge sometimes will go from empty and start going to full as I drive.

At about 37,000 miles, the fuel gauge on my 2006 Nissan Frontier started reading "empty" no matter how much fuel was in the tank, and the "check engine" light came on continuously. The fuel sensor was replaced with a "revised" unit and now at 46,000 miles, it is reading "empty" all the time, even when the tank is full.

Fuel gauge does not accurately report fuel level. There is a recall for this year, make and model but Nissan says it only for specific VIN's and that not all are subject to the recall even though I have a faulty fuel sensor as well.

Service engine light came on, code is P0463 - fuel high level sensor. The truck is a 2006 Nissan Frontier with 34,000 miles. The dealership said there is a tech bulletin, no recall.

Nissan Frontier 2006 all have a common defective part, the fuel level sensor. I have this truck and at approximately 43,000 miles, the sensor went out giving me the "service engine soon", code number P0463. The Nissan dealer said it would $350 to replace, at my expense. After further research in internet forums, this is a common defect with all 2006 Frontiers with the sensor going out at approx 42,000-43,000 miles. The fuel gauge no longer functions, leaving the owner not knowing how full the fuel tank is. There are post on various forums of drivers being stranded with an empty tank due to this defective part. Nissan has recalled some of the vehicles for this defect but when I advised Nissan customer service that my truck had the same defect, I was told that my VIN was not part of the recall. It is clear that the recall needs to be broadened to all vehicles produced in that year.
