The fuel gauge displayed empty while the fuel tank was full and displayed full when the fuel tank was empty. The contact stated that it was difficult to determine how much fuel was in the vehicle and caused the vehicle to stop running due to the failure. The contact stated that there was a related recall for the fuel level sensor for the 2006 and 2008 models but not the 2007. The manufacturer stated that since the vehicle was not a part of the recall they would not repair the vehicle at no charge. The contact had recently refueled the vehicle and the fuel level gauge dropped from full to empty and would occur whenever refueling the vehicle. On one occasion, the fuel level gauge read the tank as one-quarter full yet the vehicle stalled because the fuel tank was empty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 46,400.
