Frontier SV 4.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 54,000 miles

I bought my Nissan Frontier used with 27,000 miles on it. I was really excited to have a low mileage worry free experience. Whoops. At 54,000 miles, I noticed that the engine rpms were going up, but no acceleration when changing gears. I couldn't believe it was the clutch given the mileage on the vehicle. I have driven manual transmission vehicles all my life, and this is total garbage. I took it into the dealer, and they confirmed it was the clutch and that it would not be covered under the power train warranty because it is a wear item..........horrible. My truck has been at the dealership now for two weeks, mostly because of another issue. The cost of the fix was priced at $2200.00! I am telling everyone I know not buy Nissan. Once upon a time Nissan meant quality to me, but not anymore.

Frontier SV 4.0L V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Bought 2013 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 4.0L V6 brand new and at 50,000 miles the clutch fails. This was the second time I had been stuck ever in this pickup, so the second time I ever had to put more force on the clutch. I don't ride the clutch at all, and so I was annoyed when the clutch gave out.

I towed to nearest Nissan dealership and they confirmed it was the clutch and that it would not be covered under warranty because the powertrain warranty (which includes engine, transmission, and drivetrain, that lists bearings, flywheel, and clutch cover under this warranty) doesn't cover it.

Out of 5 new and used vehicles I have driven since the age of 16, this was the first vehicle (brand new too) where the clutch gave out. That says something about the quality of the clutch when installed in this pickup. In addition to Nissan not willing to cover the clutch under the valid powertrain warranty I had, they priced the clutch repair at $2,250, which is ridiculous. I got clutch priced from another credible mechanic in the same town as the dealer and they charged me $1,100 with a clutch warranty.

From my experience, Nissan has extremely poor service, and from my turmoil with them, I would be reluctant to purchase another vehicle from them. I've read other complaints on here about the Nissan Frontier clutch, and so I feel compelled to let people know this problem.
