About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The cruise control will not coast down hill without decelerating up to 5 miles below set speed, so 55, if your set at 60, etc. The truck has the small 2.5 4cyl engine, but it will climb the first hill perfectly fine without missing a beat, just when it starts coming down the backside of the hill you can physically feel a drag like the throttle plate is completely closed. On very hilly terrain it will decelerate down the first hill, and upon reaching the second hill, accelerate sometimes violently (4 to 5K RPM) too catch up with itself. More often then not, I just shut the system off and drive normally too avoid unnecessary wear on the engine and trans, not too mention the loss in fuel economy.

Set cruise control at 55 mph on an interstate highway. When going down a slight hill, speed increases and the cruise control will disengage. At the bottom of the hill, speed drops approximately five (5) miles below set speed before cruise control reengages. I have also tested a 2015 Nissan Frontier with lead mechanic and the same problem occurred. I am concerned about the safety issue. After the dealership ran diagnostics, they saw no problems. Nissan usa is aware of this.
