I'm at a red light after a 2 hour drive into Dallas, Texas on 10 June. My car sputtered and oil exploded out of my engine. By the time I reached second light, car was smoking from oil on hot engine. I pulled into a parking lot and oil is pouring out of my car into parking lot.
This 2011 Juke already had its engine blown when timing chain broke while under standard warranty. Sterling McCall Nissan in Stafford had engine replaced. Then about 2014, I believe, a voluntary recall was issued and timing chain was replaced on this second engine.
According to car mechanic at B&B Complete Auto Repair in Garland Texas, they said that the timing chain was grinding against the timing casing because the timing chain was not properly installed. In fact, it wasn't even mounted back correctly with a significant bolt completely missing. The timing chain was on the edge of coming off and at any moment it could have caused the engine to blow.
On 8 June, 2018 I had air compressor and serpentine belt replaced and oil changed. Then this occurred. Now, this is the third time chain was replaced on this car.
To be honest, it will be very unlikely that I will ever purchase a Nissan after having to deal with a timing chain three times now.
