We are not entering the vin number because now that the problem is occurring for the 2nd time, and we didn't take it to the dealer because we did not hit 40K miles on our 2012 Juke until long after our warranties expired. So we're going to trade this in and don't want them finding our vin number associated repairs.

Early summer 2018 at around 40K miles we began having starting problems. I expected it to be an issue with "fire" not getting to the engine. We did a lot of research and fixed it ourselves with jumps and a new battery, but it didn't stop and when the batter should have been putting out at least 14K in energy, it was putting out less than 12K in energy. That's really bad. It definitely means Nissan has an electrical design error it won't cop to. It basically added too many bells and whistles for the engine capacity.

In October 2020 around 47K miles the bizarre failure to start problems began again, but were not significant until on 11/12/2020 and today (11/15/2020). So we'll call the same trusty auto place that takes care of all our cars after the warranties end and see what they say. Here's what they did in 2018: replaced starter and battery; replaced break switch and battery - all within a week or so - and it worked until now.

If you know what the electrical problem is so we can have it fixed properly, that's great. Otherwise we're taking it to the dealer during a trade in and pretending nothing is wrong with it. This is our first Nissan, but fortunately it's a family of dealerships so we have some options. But we'd prefer to keep it considering the low mileage and pristine shape. Covid is not a great time to replace a crossover.

Had to replace my brake switch for the third time. Keeps going out. When it goes out the engine cannot comprehend that you are stepping on the brake, thus it will not start. What a bunch of crap.

Purchased the 2012 Nissan Juke in October of 2014, 2 weeks later the car stalled after a one hour drive and was parked for 2 hours, would not start lights began to flicker after I attempted to start it. Then all electrical systems shut down, Called AAA got a jump. Drove it to the dealership where purchased, they changed the battery about 8 months later same problem, had to get a jump to start the car, took it to dealership the could find nothing wrong, they gave me another new battery and changed the battery in the key about 7 months later same problem, got stuck had to get a jump, and drove to a nearby dealership, in between these months, I had to get a jump and was able to drive home on the weekends, when Nissan dealership was closed. I have reported that the back wipers and the usb port was not working and there was static noise coming from the usb port, they said the battery was under warranty and gave me a new battery, 9 to 10 months later problem is occuring once again, but now the car is cutting off more often and takes much longer for the battery to jump, it is now August of 2017. Lost and confused.

Was on vacation in 2013 with one year old car and stopped at rest area for a break and got hot and decided to start car for a/c and nothing. Long story wont jump off, finally got autozone to deliver a battery bingo starts. Every year after car leaves wife stranded in numerous times and places. i bought the new car so this wouldn't be a problem, wrong. bought new battery every year, something is wrong with this design for this to happen all the time and battery testers say alternator and battery are good, go figure!

I purchased my Nissan Juke nearly 4 years ago. 3 random times in the last year the car has failed to start. The first time was late at night. After a 2 hour wait, my car was jump started by AAA and the next dealer the dealer said they couldn't find anything wrong and replaced the battery.

The second time was a couple of months ago. AAA towed the car back to the dealer where they couldn't find anything and replaced the battery. (The dealer said they'd replace the battery every time I came in if needed--but I'm worried about being stranded again and that's not a fix.)

I contacted Nissan's Consumer Affairs Division and when I mentioned "lemon Law" they sent their Dealer Technical Specialist down from GA. He said he made minor adjustments and that I could not longer use the splitter I had (for the GPS and once in a while charged my phone) even though I didn't have problems for the first 3 years. The day after I drove the car home, the battery was dead the next day. Again the car was jump started by the towing service and brought back to the dealer. There they think they found some other electrical issue. I did replace the splitter a few months ago after I accidentally damaged the first one. I've never had to unplug it. I was told not to use it anymore (by the Specialist) or to unplug it every time I parked. The explanation is crazy--each time my car worked fine except for these 3 random times where the car would not start after I drove and parked it for an hour. If it was the splitter, it would have drained the battery after EVERY use. The Specialist told me it's called "parasitic draw"--supposedly even if the car is completely turned off the accessories are still working. If that's true, then the car was designed defectively and should have been recalled.

I also filed a complaint with the NHTSA and I'm the 4th person to do so. There are lots of other complaints online about this. I paid nearly 27K for the car and the extended warranty. The GA Specialist didn't want to assist when I called to complain about the 3rd time not starting --after he thought he fixed it and the Consumer Affairs Rep never called me back after I left a message.

I am afraid to drive this car because I don't want to be STRANDED YET AGAIN nor lose more money from missing work.I'm finding the situation very stressful. I see others with the same complaint. I would like my car FIXED or REPLACED. Nissan Corporate blew me off! DO NOT buy a Juke.

Update from Dec 3, 2016: Brandon (SVC MGR) at Wesley Chapel was Nissan (FL) was able to fix my car after the 3rd issue (even when the corporate guy they sent down to look at the vehicle could not.) He said it had something to do with the electrical system and the back brake lights. Hopefully this info will help someone else.

I was at an open house and my cell phone died, so I went out to the car to charge it for 1 minutes I plugged it in and hit the start button to turn the car on, not the engine. I came out and both my cell and my car was dead. I had to go knock on a neighbors door for a jump. This happened before and I left the car for longer, but I figured if I only did it for a short time it would be ok. And it wasn't. This car sucks.

I miss my old 199 VW jetta, it was SO reliable. Now I am afraid to go off in the everglades alone, god forbid I cant start my car, then what?

And what if I have no cell cignal and cant call for help?

I am sooooo sick of this car. I went to eat dinner all by myself, came out 45 min later and car is dead again. I did not leave a light on, a door ajar, the engine in OR the cell hone plugged in. what the heck is with this car??? had to wait for stupid BF to show up with his fancy car and he cant' figure out to jump with this BMW, can't even find his battery, idiot. Got my waitress friend to come out and jump me. Girls ROCK!

WENT TO LUNCH WITH SOME FRIENDS, I THINK I MAY HAVE INADVERTENTLY NOT PUSHED THE START BUTTON ALL THE WAY OFF, MAYBE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS STILL ON, NOT 100%, CAME OUT AN HOUR LATER AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THIS IS A HORRIBLE DESIGN.

MY 1997 VW JETTA I COULD LEAVE THE INTERIOR LIGHT ON ALL NIGHT, KEEP THE PHONE CHARGER IN WITH THE PHONE PLUGGED IN, AND IT WOULD START THE N E X T D A Y!!!

THIS DAMN CAR AN HOUR LATER YOU ARE TOAST. I HATE THIS CARS FEATURE - IT HAS LEFT ME STRANDED NUMEROUS TIMES, I PROBABLY FORGOT A FEW ALREADY.

We are facing this engine starting problem for quite long time. We had taken this car to Nissan service centers but it never got fixed. Not able to identify the problem properly. The problem occurs any time and may be after few minutes/hours it will start again. My wife is using this car and she is really scared since we don't know when or if it will start. Really highly unreliable.

We had experienced this at least 30 times in a year, where we tried changing remote battery and even vehicle battery itself. Really annoying and it is indeed unreliable as well.

Have taken back to dealer TWICE now. Have replaced battery in car and key. 30 days later, with the new battery in vehicle, IT WONT START AGAIN. Has happened a number of times but eventually it has started, except for now. Now it wont start again, this being 2nd time for total shut-down. Dealer is no help so guess I'll have battery checked again. Hard to get to work with an unreliable vehicle. sell sell sell!

My Nissan Juke has left me sitting 3 times now. I thought the Key Fob battery was going out or something - because it didn't seem to recognize the key and wouldn't let me start the car. Just left me sitting there. This happened when I went to pick the kids up a couple of weeks ago. It happened again one evening late - and now this morning - I went to a meeting and when I came out - car wasn't starting.

Key Fob worked to open the door - but the car wouldn't do anything. Couldn't push the brake down and couldn't start it. I couldn't even use the button on the door to lock or unlock it. The key fob works fine. After about 30 minutes - all of a sudden it started working again. What the crap is going on here. This car isn't old enough to have these kind of problems.
