The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Juke. While the vehicle was idling, the contact heard a loud explosion. The contact noticed that the sun roof had exploded without warning. There were no injuries. The contact called Nissan of cool springs at (615) 224-8301 (212 comtide ct, franklin, tn 37067) and was provided the number to the manufacturer. The vehicle was taken to an auto repair shop where the sun roof was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The contact was informed that there were no recalls associated with the VIN and to contact NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

The contact indicated that the damaged sun roof was bowed upward after the incident. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (newton Nissan, 1461 nashville pike in galetin, tn 37066) who replaced the sun roof. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 85,000.
