When I start the car, I usually let it warm up for 5 - 10 minutes. the rpm's start jumping up and down in between 1000 and 0 rpm's. It will occasionally shut off. I start it again, and I'm driving, the car starts "jerking", the engine is now surging ( I'm giving it gas and it is not responding, I take my foot off of the gas ( approx. 3 seconds), give it gas again and its ok until it starts to repeat what I've just described or stall. HELP!

will be driving down road and all of sudden motor is running but no gas pedal! have to pull to side of road till I keep goosing it and comes back OK. only does it once in awhile, but in traffic it's scary. Had 2 fuel injectors, plugs, wires, points, all new and still takes streaks of missing & no gas pedal. Had the catalytic converter checked & is OK. Spent a lot of money and still not where I can trust it to go very far. Runs real good otherwise. Hope someone can help.

My '92 Maxima suffers from an intermittent engine stall/stutter when accelerating? The car loses power completely for a fraction of a second, then it goes back on, then stumbles again and will go through this cycle for 4-5 second and then resume running. When I let off the gas and then accelerate softly I can drive it all day. Occasionally it is worse, having no power for 10-20 seconds and forcing me to pull over. The car starts fine and idles well, the problem only happens when accelerating around 2000 RPM. It will not show the symptom until after it worms up for 5 minutes. There are no error codes. I'm herring that Maxims are reputed to be prone to this problem but I can't find a solution.
