Maxima GLE 3.O

  • Automatic transmission
  • 138,800 miles

This is the second time the IAC and ECU have gone out in 16 months, which also requires reprogramming. This is a WIDELY reported problem and it should be recalled and repaired without cost to the owners. This is NOT what I expect from a my third Nissan. I realize this car is not new, but it has under 140k miles, and this is the second time.

Maxima 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 192,000 miles

2001 Maxima high idle IAC valve replaced only to find did not fix it. After reading many, many reports in forums found out the ECM will need to be replaced. Seems to me that as the car idles 1500 rpm and can jump higher this is a safety concern and Nissan needs to repair this under a recall. If it was just a few here and there I could see them not doing anything about it but with the thousands of Maximas out there it needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt or killed.

Update from Mar 26, 2014: talked to Nissan north america what a joke that was. she didnt want to listen to anything i had to say. her responce was take it to a dealer and have it repaired. i like nissan also was a tech with them for 17 yrs but if that is how they want to treat customers then i guess it is time to find another make. Toyota had similer problem few years ago but at least they took care of it. will update what the finial repair was.

Update from Apr 13, 2014: removed the ecm sent it out for repair. re installed it and has fixed the problem. wnat to thank myairbags from ga for the fast service they profited. sent out on a monday was back that friday. to bad nissan was not that good. nissan has lost another customer as they just dont seem to care.

My computer died and the dealer had to reprogram my computer (CPU) and was advised by NIssna that I should shop around for a new CPU. Went to Daytona Beach Nissan from Canada, Ontario and they advised there are NO NEW CPU available for my Nissan. So what do you do????? Hope you don't have an expensive paperweight with NO extended warranty.....
