My service engine light keeps going on. It will stay on for a while than shut off for a while . Its been doing this for almost two years. Had my cam sensor fixed and the light was still on after a day. What else could it be?

The car was purchased by my daughter new and she took good care of the car. In fact, she kept all papers on work done on the car including oil changes and etc. It was garage kept interior and exterior in good condition. I purchased from her for my granddaughter to drive while in college. The car started stopping on us when driving, by this I mean just stop. I had 3 tow bills of $75.00 each time within one month.
The car was carried to Nissan and checked by computer the crankshaft and camshaft sensors were bad and the gaskets had oil leakage. The total cost to get ALL this repaired was $1,220.00 this was with labor. I had the camshaft and crankshaft replaced not enough money to have the gaskets replaced. The cost was $629.00 for the sensors and labor.
I looked on Google and there was recalls on the sensors and the gaskets for this model 2003 Nissan Maxma GXE. The Nissan place in Rome said this specific model VIN # was not included in the recall. I sent a email asking about the recall and it took 3 weeks and 4 calls to get to talk with someone and the rep sent a case on this complaint got a call back the next day to tell me again the VIN# was not included and the 3 year warranty had expired. I ask how would they know if this car was not manufactured at the time the other 630,000 were manufactured.
For example, I gave there could have been 30,000 run and maybe 1,000 more then the remaining run thru manufacturing and mine could have been in the 1,000 in the middle and was not listed due to oversight. No straight answer, except the same VIN# not listed so, I ask for the last six digits for the start and end numbers for the list 0f VIN#'s included in recall, I was placed on hold for about 8 minutes so, the list could be sent to me at my email address that was given when my husband was spoke to earlier in the day. But, she hated for me to be on hold she would let me go then send the list to my email address. It has been 4 days no email.
The car does have 178,000 miles but it has not been abused and neglected. But its a recall on the model car I have and it should be included since it has the issues listed in the recall. Just to put this out there, within my family there has been approximately 7 Nissan vehicles purchased and this is the only issues my family has incurred with Nissan. I just want them to stand by their products!! A recall is a recall!!!
