This is reference to two situation concerning Nissan recalls. In 2014 I took my car to sansone Nissan dealer on rt 1, NJ to take care of the airbag recall issue NHTSA ref#15V287000. My airbag light was not on when I took it to the dealer, after I came home a week later the airbag light came on. I don't think the dealer took care of the recall issue, if they did my airbag light would not be on. I would like Nissan to give authorization to the dealer to correct this problem. My second issue was on Jan 2016, I was driving to work, all of a sudden the car shut off on me, the brake lock up and all I could do was stair to the side of the road..I was lucky that there wasn't any oncoming traffic. I had to call the tow truck to have my car towed but before the tow truck came I tried starting the car again and it started. I was a few minutes from home, so I drove back home and I had my local mechanic picked it up and did a diagnosis on it. He said it was the crank position sensor, I purchased it and he installed it. The car started working a little better but my service engine soon warning light is still on. I did a little investigation and found out that there was a recall for engine and engine cooling recall #03V455000. I read it and found that the consequence on the recall is the exact same thing that happen to me. Again sansone dealer on rt. 1 in NJ is claiming that they took care of this issue but I was never told that this was a recall by Nissan. I wanted Nissan to correct this problem based on the fix under NHTSA ref# 03V455000. I've been taking car of all the maintenance on my car since I purchased it from Nissan but I feel that Nissan is responsible for these two issue, since it was defect in design on their end.

Was driving on 4 lane divided road at approx. 50 mph. When depressed gas pedal to accelerate, car acted like it wasn't getting gas. After a few seconds, it acted normal again. Came upon stop light. As I was waiting for light to change, engine suddenly cut off without any warning, all dash lights flashed. I immediately cut the A/C, radio and lights thinking it was my battery going bad. I put the car in park and restarted it with no problem. I immediately drove approx. 15 miles to nearest aaa shop to get battery checked. Battery checked out fine and mechanic looked under hood and could not see anything obvious. I got home and found out that this year Nissan had been recalled for camshaft problems. The description of camshaft problems (engine suddenly turning off) made me suspicious especially since it had been recalled. Took to Nissan dealership next morning and they confirmed that the camshaft was weak so they replaced ($552 expense). Don't understand why all the Nissan 2003 Maximas were not recalled for this problem. I am asking that Nissan considering recalling all the 2003 Maximas for this problem. I was very frightened when engine cut out and could have be stuck in the middle of the road and rear-ended. I am grateful I was stopped when it happened and not traveling at a high speed.

As verified by an independent mechanic, the camshaft sensor shut the car down during operation on the highway. I was advised that this specific problem was the subject of a recall in 2003 (notice of which was never given to me) and I found two independent internet references to a recall for this specific problem (recall #33403), one of which contained a range of affected VIN's that included my car. I sent the information to Nissan with the supporting documentation but was summarily rejected on the basis that my VIN simply did not appear on their computer. I asked if it was because the recall was in 2003, but did not receive a reply. Nissan refused to replace the defective part(s); consequently, I had the work performed by an independent mechanic. Hence, the question: Is this 10-year old (apparently voluntary) recall enforceable by the nhtsb? Nissan could obviously not care less.

While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. After approximately ten minutes, I was able to restart the vehicle. The car has stalled in traffic three times over the last 3 weeks. I have read on the internet that there are many others with the same problem. Nissan refuses to correct the problem. When my car stalled the car behind me came close to hitting me. The car is unsafe to drive. I or my family could be killed in an accident due to the stalling of the car in traffic. GM is now fixing the problem with their cars; after 13 deaths. Please ensure that owners of this car are safe! thanks you.

While driving at approx 30 mph, the car shut off as my child and I were coming to a stoplight. I had no problem restarting and encountered this same problem 4 more times during my trip, including failure to idle. Check engine light never came on. Next time, I was driving approx 45 mph and the car shut off and it tried restarting itself while I was trying to find a safe place to pull over. The car restarted again no problem. Then as my husband and I were driving at approx. 60 mph the car began to lurch (stopping and attempting to start again by itself). Pulled off the road and was able to restart the car, all of these instances no check engine light. Lastly, I was unable to start the car after parking it away from home and it was acting like it was "flooded". after 20 minutes of attempted starting, it finally took and I drove home on the back roads. After several attempts at home to recreate the no start problem, the check engine light is finally on! at this point, I'm not driving this vehicle until we have the bank 2 camshaft position sensor replaced. We ran a code reader and got a P0345 code. Nissan has a recall on this year make/model but I, like many, many other consumers have been told, their VIN is not part of the recall from 2003. I would like to know if anyone's VIN fell into their recall. I just told the Nissan "customer service" that I am afraid driving this car could result in fatalities, and they suggested I take it to the dealership and maybe they could do something for me! like sell me a new car? never again, Nissan.
