Very dangerous problem. You take the car, stop at red light, give it acceleration at green and the car starts freaking out and accelerating uncontrollably with the rotations per min oscillating almost like a fan. No brake and you have to put it neutral and pull the emergency brakes... and find yourself a towing truck and deal with the troubles. I have had enough with this car. I have been a owner of two wonderful nissans (Axess and Maxima) before that have required pretty much only regular maintenance and a few minor repairs here and there. This 2004 Maxima has had many things that needed to be changed and I am so FED UP with this car that I have definitely changed my mind with Nissan. I am waiting to see how much this throttle body and reprogramming the computer will cost and if I need to change the car (too expensive with time, money and nerves). Trust me, it won't be another Nissan. I have good options that I have been looking at following a couple of very expensive repairs. About two months ago, I got stuck on the road (again) with calipers jammed and brakes fuming like there is no tomorrow. Have had to get a towing, be late at work, have whole calipers, discs, pads and stuff changed. $$$$!! Radiator pipe was also very corroded and I had to replace it (despite that I have no rust on the car and have very good anti-rust maintenance). Have I said enough? I am immensely disappointed with this Nissan. I now read that the 2004 often has problem with the rough shifting transmission. Not surprised at all. What a pest if I pay for the throttle body change and the transmission surrenders two months down the road. Watch me calling another dealership for membership! Nissan has to take its consumers into consideration and not only their money. Or do we need to buy horses to go around? Might reveal safer and less expensive!
