The ticking noise began about a year ago. I bought the car new and only had I serviced by the dealer, when I brought my complaint to the dealer they told me that was to be expected, I told them, (don't piss down my back and tell me that it's raining) They really ticked me off! I am still dealing with this noise coming from her. Still ticked! Help!!!!!

When I first got this car it had 35.000 miles on it, and now with a little over 200.000 miles I had to have the timing chains, guilds etc replaced twice at $1.600 each time.I know now that i made a big mistake buying this 2004 Nissan Maxima. Every time i turn around something is wrong with this car.And what kills me about it repair shops tells me that i am lucky that i haven't replaced the engine or Transmission already and all they are good for is boat anchors.

Typical timing chain tensioner issue that is plastered all over the internet. Ticking/rattling noise that is worse on start up and gets a little bit better after the oil pressure is established. Dealer listened for 5 seconds under the hood and quoted me $2500 to replace the timing chains, tensioners, guides and water pump.
I love the Nissan product but Nissan needs to step up and contribute to solving this problem. I am having a tough time justifying sinking $2500 into a car that may only be worth 4K.
