Car has been making a chattering sound. Took it for oil change. They discovered something called the timing chain tensioners are the problem.

Rattling/metalic clicking started recently. occured when I start the vehicle. After having a mechanic look at it and doing a lot of research, turns out this is a very common (although VERY expensive to fix) issue (known to Nissan). with multiple lawsuits and TSB's issued.

The timing chain began to make noise at about 100,000 miles, but went away after the car warmed up. At about 114,000 miles the noise is now continuous.

Mechanics advised that the awful noise from my car was due to a broken timing chain.

Another problem that Nissan wants to sweep under the radar.
- William M., Hurley, NY, US
Was driving and car stopped running. Had no warning. Was told that Nissan has issue with timing chain to which they knew but zero resolution. I had to put out almost $3000 to get it fixed. This should be the responsibility of Nissan, especially since they were fully aware of issue on many of their vehicles.
