I purchased a black 2006 Nissan Maxima SE with 87561 miles on it and the top of the car has several white spots where the clear coat is obviously gone and the paint has faded. There are also white spots along the rear side panels going up to the top of the car and along the hood of the car. Very poor quality paint job. As I have been driving around observing other Nissan Maximas around the year of mine I've noticed the very same issues with the paint on those cars as well. Until I purchased a Nissan Maxima I never noticed the poor quality paint job. Now that I own one the poor quality paint job on the same make and models as mine stick out like a sore thumb. Its a shame that Nissan doesn't take responsibility and recall these cars for such a poor quality paint job.

paint on the hood, trunk and top of car is turning white

My car started loosing it's shine about 2010. The top coat was dull. I had it hand waxed and washed regularly but nothing seemed to work. The paint started to "crack" after awhile and then in 2011 the white discoloration happened. I tried every thing! I started noticing several black maxima's with discoloration problems in the same areas as mine. Took the car to Herb Gordon Nissan in Silver Spring, Maryland to complain about the paint issue. They took pictures and claimed they sent a report to headquarters. When I contacted them several days later they said that I was in an accident and when the car was repaired they used defected paint. THE CAR WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT!!! Nissan knows that this is a problem with their vehicle and they DO NOT want to correct the problem. I loved Maxima's. This is my second one. Unfortunately the one I have now had issues early on. It needed a new transmission and new starter when it had less than 50,000 miles. Herb Gordon Nissan took care of my car for years while it was under warranty and I was hoping to buy another Maxima but after having serious problems with the paint I will look at something other than Nissan.
