This car should be called.."The problem car". I take this car in to get one problem fixed and then another problem comes up. Every time I start this car it shakes like crazy.

Maxima SE

My complaints are similar to those who have posted about the 2004 Maxima. I noticed a couple of months ago that my car would delay or jerk when shifting from reverse to drive. It would also jerk when upshifting at about 25-40 mph. I took it in to my trusted repair shop and they said the motor mounts were broken and needed to be replaced. They stated that was what was causing the engine to move around, etc.

Well, I spent over $1100.00 yesterday to replace the motor mounts and change the battery. I was almost home when I realized that it was still displaying the same problem. Took it back to the repair shop today. Now they state the valve body needs to be replaced. Fortunately, they won't charge me labor again, but there is no guarantee that the valve body is the right fix. I'm about to take it to the dealership for a second opinion.

Shocked--I thought the Maxima was such a dependable car. I have had no problems for the 5 years it was under warranty....now this?!?

Maxima SL 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

The vehicle began shake and vibrate because the engine was no longer attached to the frame. This action was severe enough to move the radiator.
